'95 Mark VIII from last weeks Drug Auction

I've had my Mark8 for a full week now. We were looking through the hundreds of cars at the local Auction that's held twice a month here in Modesto, CA. Plenty of autos to look at, but you can't really drive 'em, just start 'em and try out all the electrical gadetry. You can make sure they don't overheat sitting in the hot sun, that the A/C blows cold, the stereo works, etc, but you can't test drive 'em anywhere.

We were looking for a newer Caddie to replace our 85 Deville that's getting long in the tooth at 180k miles and just doesn't inspire feelings of reliabilitly anymore. There were three Cateras, and two Mark8's a month ago, but they all went for too much compared to blue book value, so JonnyM and Mrs. Jonny went home empty handed. I was really becoming intrigued by the Mark8's. I've never owned a Ford in my life, but these were just really plush, luxurious cars.

So the next auction, we're outta town, and two weeks later we go back and there are a couple three Sevilles this time, a couple Continentals, and low and behold that same Green Mark8 we'd bid low on but not won a month ago. Apparently twice now, someone had bid that car up and then not come up with the money. Hmmm, was it fate. We were well prepared, valued all the cars with promise and when the Mark came up we were ready. Guess what, it ends up going for a grand less than the last time, only this time we're on top! It was meant to be. I just love this car. They just have every option and appointment known to man already built-in. 10cd changer in the trunk (and it works perfect!), great JBL sound system, and all for the equivalent of a modest down payment on a new car. AMAZING. I'm a new Mark Fan.

Here's a couple pics I shot yesterday:

Good luck with the car and WELCOME!!! You're from Modesto which is on a long side away from us Nor-Cal guys. Me, Craig, Serge, John, Stanley, all meet up around the Bay-Area quite often. Make sure you service the car well. Check the FAQs for more info. How many miles on the car? Interior pics?

You'll thank me later :D

Oh, and welcome!

Looks good, but the front wheels are on the wrong side. Those wheels are directional. http://members.tccoa.com/lastmrk/Images/lastmrk2.jpg
[/div]

Interesting concept, clearly the fronts don't match the back, but how does one decide which direction is correct. The very next two threads both have pic's with the same wheels, one fades forward, one fades backwards, now which is "stock" and which is "custom"

119K miles

I have driven it on dark country roads at night, the high beams are fine, the low beams could use some help...

The interior is nice, same color as car, but the pics are too contrasty to show any detail, so I won't waste the bandwith posting.

I had my mechanic go thru it right after we bought it, the only thing he could find was one belt that needed replacing, I spec'd Mobil One Oil from this day forward, it kept the Caddie running forever.

In this picture:

Your rear wheel is on correctly. The wheels also have a part number on them which specifies LH and RH wheels. I'm 99% sure, LH = Driver's side, RH = Passenger side. If you check the p/n on your drivers side rear wheel, you will know for sure.

It looks like you need at least one centercap as well. I paid $10 each for them at my local dealer.

Good luck with your new purchase!

Beautiful mark, welcome to the club. Have you floor it already?

NOTE: try to floor it while going 25MPh, and report back the results :7

I expect I'm not getting the reference to some inside joke, but I will say the engine response is amazing. I haven't driven anything with this kinda of get up and to since the family 455 Bonneville back in 70. THe Mark just plain goes! If you don't pay attention to the speedo, you're past 80 without realizing it, because the ride is so darn smooth. It definitely doesn't lack for grunt. The Performance was a pleasant suprise.
