I've had my Mark8 for a full week now. We were looking through the hundreds of cars at the local Auction that's held twice a month here in Modesto, CA. Plenty of autos to look at, but you can't really drive 'em, just start 'em and try out all the electrical gadetry. You can make sure they don't overheat sitting in the hot sun, that the A/C blows cold, the stereo works, etc, but you can't test drive 'em anywhere.
We were looking for a newer Caddie to replace our 85 Deville that's getting long in the tooth at 180k miles and just doesn't inspire feelings of reliabilitly anymore. There were three Cateras, and two Mark8's a month ago, but they all went for too much compared to blue book value, so JonnyM and Mrs. Jonny went home empty handed. I was really becoming intrigued by the Mark8's. I've never owned a Ford in my life, but these were just really plush, luxurious cars.
So the next auction, we're outta town, and two weeks later we go back and there are a couple three Sevilles this time, a couple Continentals, and low and behold that same Green Mark8 we'd bid low on but not won a month ago. Apparently twice now, someone had bid that car up and then not come up with the money. Hmmm, was it fate. We were well prepared, valued all the cars with promise and when the Mark came up we were ready. Guess what, it ends up going for a grand less than the last time, only this time we're on top! It was meant to be. I just love this car. They just have every option and appointment known to man already built-in. 10cd changer in the trunk (and it works perfect!), great JBL sound system, and all for the equivalent of a modest down payment on a new car. AMAZING. I'm a new Mark Fan.
Here's a couple pics I shot yesterday:
