engine squeeking

Hey guys, need some help with my 96 Mark VIII. There is a noticable squeeking coming from the engine bay, the engine has a relatively new belt and brand new idler pulley. Belt looks like it's in good shape, any ideas on what can be causing the squeeking? It's louder on cold start ups.

FWIW, mine has that same symptom, intermittently. Very loud at times. I think it may be the belt even though it is practically new. I've been seeing belt dust on the alternator. I have new idler and tensioner pulleys as well as a new tensioner, so I dunno?

JP does a new tensioner assembly come with a new tensioner pulley or are they sold seperately?

Mine came with a pulley, but I'm not sure if they are all sold that way. Since the tensioner and idler pulleys are the same, you can purchase just a pulley if need be.

FWIW, for nearly all the tensioners I have seen replaced, the pulley was still good.

OK after listening to the engine some more it seems like it's coming from the alternator pulley? I can't find a stock replacement alternator pulley anywhere though... also, when I put my ear down to the coil pack on the driver side, I can hear a "clicking" noise which is not present on the other coil pack. Can this be because some of the wires are arching?

Open your hood at night...full dark and if there is arcing, you can see it!
Don't get your ear too close, you'll be seeing stars! You'll be a shorter path to ground.

Reminds me of my 85 T-Bird when I was in college. I locked my keys in the car with the engine running because I had just parked and heard a bizarre noise coming from the engine. I got out, popped the hood, and locked the doors by mistake. After resolving the noise, I realized a was locked out with the engine running. So I thought, "...well if I just pull off the wire to the ignition coil here, the engine should shut down..." Electricity arced everywhere and my arm was numb for about five minutes. Lucky I didn't die looking back on it.
