Does a cone filter = CE light?

I've read that some guys got a CE light when they installed the cone filter. Is this true? Do all get it or only some? If so what did you guys do to get rid of the CE light? chip cleared, other options? Is this even true?
Thanks, David

There is no way a cone filter will give you a CE. If you buy a K&N, maybe, if you dont oil it right. I think what you may be getting confused about is when someone buys a conical air filter kit that includes a larger MAF, then you can indeed get a CE.

Thanks for clearing that up. I was hesitant on getting a K&N cone filter because of the CE light.

It won't cause a CE light. I never had a problem with oil on the MAF on either of the two of my cars that used that filter. I wonder if people oil the wrong side of the filter or something...

Some accidentally leave the MAF unplugged after installation of the cone filter/MAF. That will set off a CEL as well.

K&N filters and driveability issues are VERY common in Ford cars/trucks, the cause being the filter being OVER oiled and it will get the MAF dirty. While its not very common for this to happen to our cars....we are registered on an automotive forum asking questions to prevent this from happening. The common Joe Schmoe will follow the K&N instructions and add a bit more for "filtering" purposes...."just in case". Know what I mean? :D

Even with a properly oiled on, your pulling a lot of air past that oiled filer and some will get into the MAF over time. If you oil, just make sure you keep you dirty little MAF clean too!
