350.00 X 3 meant that I "tried" all known vendors at the time and bought chips from 3 different vendors before I "tossed in the towel" and bought the ProRacer Package.
I spent too much money "trying everyones chips".
Of course these days there are far more and better vendors such as Lonnie and Torrie.. but if I had to do it all over again.. I would get PRP from one of them and with their assistance get the "first chip right, the first time".
Back when the " Great Chip wars of 2000" were going on... Lonnie and Torrie weren't part of the scene...now there are much better options.

Oh yea, I remember those... Superchips, Diablo Chip, LMS chip (Superchip), Denis's chip (Diablo Chip?! with the little horns broken off hhahaha)... good times. I remember how they were advertised to help gain 10rwhp and gas mileage...
If I had to do it, I would just get a XCAL at this point in time. No need to go play around with chips when you can have your own "program" that you can customize yourself.
If I had an OBD2 car I WOULD get an Xcal to use with my SCT ProRacer Software..
But..I kinda like the 4 bank chip {switch programs on the fly)
And I can change ANYTHING the tuners can with Pro Racer, it's a very VERY good interface with BUTTLOADS of stuff to mess with
