If you need a new cooling fan don't take it to the shop it takes maybe 20 minutes and basic tools.

I did mine tonight looks like the overheating issues are solved

now back to the CDOT to see if i pass emissions

Yea the fan is a piece of cake and so is the radiator. Anyone paying to get those changed... either doesn't have any tools/garage space or shouldn't be working on cars at ALL!

In a way its almost comical how easy these are to change compared to some other parts that should be easy to swap out, like the oil filter.

I never had a problem with the Mark VIII oil filter

I think the fuel filter on gen 1s is a royal pain due to the connections.
The air filter is a pain also.
The IAC valve on Gen 1s.

My oil filter wasn't bad to change until I put in a large front sway bar, now it literally takes 20 minutes to get the damn thing out. I'm going to put a relocation kit on soon, it's such a pain otherwise.

I just changed my oil and fuel filter. Fuel filter was way easier because I had the right tool, plus someone else did the actual hose disconnect and they got sprayed with the fuel (I warned him). Oil filter was a B!T6H.

Yeah I seriously question the thinking of the chassis engineers at ford sometimes, not only on the Mark 8's but also on my old stang, they just do somethings that when you look at in hind-sight you have to ask, what the hell were they thinking? Who buries the oil filter in an unreachable place? Why use cheap parts on the suspension components? Why put brakes that belong on a Focus on a car that weighs in at twice as much?
