Another trip to the track. The last test and tune for Pittsburgh Raceway Park. A gorgeous day with temps near 70. After an opening run of 14.06 @ 98.9 came a 14.00 @ 99.0. The place was crowded with all staging lanes full and it was taking well over an hour between runs, more than enough time to adequately cool down to prevent heat soak.

Then out of nowhere, the long awaited time slip came with the third run of the day.

Congrats Driller! A proper cool down period is essential to get the most power of out our engines... I like that 60 foot time too... Were you using the Hoosiers and did you launch any differently this time out?

RE: 100mph Club

Yes, the car was dressed with the Hoosiers on the snowflake rims. After the first run, I was trying to launch at different rpms. My sixty foot times ranged from a high of 2.068 seconds to a low of 1.998 seconds.

Grats man! Nice 60 foot! Didn't someone have like a 1.96 posted before as the record for our cars?? lol (not counting an all out stripped pro tubbed dragcar) I shouldn't of posted the other thread first. lol Our cars Are the same head to head. Thought i'd have you on the top end because of the different intake. Did you do any weight reductions yet? I'm putting old blue on a serious diet soon. Just wondering what you have removed. Good job.

RE: 100mph Club

Thanks. My best sixty foot is a 1.989. What is encouraging is since the Hoosier drag tires my short times have been quite consistent in the high 1.9x's or low 2.0x's. I've just started experimenting launching at different rpms against the stall converter but so far not much difference.

With the exception of the CD changer being swapped out with the subwoofer, not much has been done to reduce the vehicle weight. LOL I do run a set of lightweight snowflake rims with the Hoosiers which are known to be light, but that's about it. I get to the track, unload the trunk(bag of tools, spare, jack, etc...), swap the tires in the rear and run what I brung. :D

Nice times Sleeper. I didn't know you hit 100mph a long time ago, pretty fast 2nd gen you got there...}(

LOL. :7 Yeah, it did take long enough, didn't it?

I may have even been able to do better this past weekend at a private track rental I was invited to but unfortunately I had to work. A couple of guys I know did set new best ETs in their MN12s.

Along with a much needed fresh paint job, intake and headers are on the list for the Blue Flame this winter. I will probably go with a set of Kooks mid-length headers and a ported/polished Gen1 intake I already have. I'm sure the stock manifolds and cats are holding me back.
