20x8.5" / 40 offset Rims

I had a few people ask me for specs on the wheels that I have on my car, but I wasn't sure about the offset.... So for anyone who is looking for a set of wheels that fit as perfect as I can see, they are 20x8.5" w/40 offset front and rear. The tires are 275-30-20's in the rear, and 255-35-20's in the front. The rims/tires in the rear just barely fit between the inner fenderwell and the outer fender lip, they clear all the way from above factory ride height, all the way down to fully dropped. The same goes for the front, with the inside of the tire being about 1/4" away from the top of the spindle, and the outside just barely mising the outer fender lip, when the car is riding VERY low. The front wheels will also turn from end to end without hitting any part af the vehicle. Even with the car lowered all the way down (pretty much only for shows or pictures) I can still turn the steering wheel 1.5 rotations either way before the outside of the tire starts to rub on the fender lip! I figured I'd post this for anyone who has asked me or was wondering about fitment on a set of DUBS for their Mark VIII..... Hope this helps!

Thanks Joe. I was wondering and in fact ran across pictures of your car and loved the way it looked. I'm still trying to decide between 20s or 18s. Also need to find a rim I like in the size without copying anyone else's here. :)

No problem, thanks for the compliments. You should check out the 20" Kologne wheels that LMS is offering, I think they would look badass!! I wish you good luck finding the perfect set of wheels for your G2!

Absolutely love those rims from LMS and a good price too. Man, but I can't decide between 20s and 18s. I like for some cars look with 18s and lowered, but than some with 20s look really good. Joe, is your car lowered? If so, how much did you lower it?

I wonder if Geno has a picture of these rims on a Mark VIII yet? As Paulie on American Chopper likes to say, that would look SICK! ;)

Yeah, I lowered my car using a modified version of the "Kale Mod". I was able to use the info that Kale posted (Thanks, Kale!!) to create an adjustable system that taps into the output wiring of the air suspension computer. I installed a custom switch panel inside the glovebox with six switches, one for each airbag solenoid, one for the pump solenoid, and one for the pump relay. There are also two more switches on the dash, enclosed in a modified radio dash kit. One of the buttons turns off the air ride computer, while the other one is a master switch for the glovebox switchpanel. I also wired the system to an output on my alarm remote, so that when I hit a certain sequence of buttons, the air suspension carries out whatever I set the switchpanel to do. I can raise and lower the car at each individual corner (handy for car shows and pictures).

I think that the G2's almost need bigger wheels aesthetically, due to it's larger looking more rounded shape than the G1's. I have noticed that wheels of the same size usually look bigger on G1's. Also, many people on here that went with 18's (even though they look great) wish thay had gone with the DUBS. Just make sure that you purchase a good, quality set of tires to maximize the car's roadholding capabilty and to give the vehicle as good a ride possible considering the harsher ride attributed to lower profile tires.

I was wondering what type of tires do you have? I'm on 20's as well my tires are the bfgoodrich g force ta kdw 245/4520ZR 95y. Anyway, i'm rubbing on the far inside of the tire only when the tire is turn and i need some new tires but not sure on which tire to go with and size that would give me some decent mileage on the tires and wouldn't kill me with the harsh ride. thanks man

Joe, I love those wheels on your car, it looks real clean! Are they Enkei Kapone's?? Anyways, I have been using Toyo Proxes T1-S'. You should be able to fit 255to265-35-20 tires up front, and up to about 285-30-20's in the rear with those rims. I am going with a pair of 285-30-20's in the rear soon, which will more closely match the sidewall height of the 255-35-20's that I am now using up front. I was thinking about going with the GoodYear Eagle F1's as they have a similar tread pattern, but wider corner blocks. The T1-S' are great for handling, especially in the rain. They do not offer very good treadwear, but they give a good ride for their size.

Hey joe, thanks for the comments. My car still has some catching up to do to get even in the same class as your car. The rims are Enkei Kapone's and the tire size is 245/40 not 245/45. So far the cheapest price i found for my tires are 233 a tire. How much are the T1-S? I was looking at the Goodyear as well, but for the price i would just go and get my tires again. Also, the rating on tirerack wasn't that great compared to some other tires.. but i'm not sure how reliable their rating is.

RE: 20x8.5

Are you running spacers up front? From what I can remember, Chris was using spacers on the front of his car with those wheels, that should keep the tire from rubbing on the inside. I believe the T1-S' are retailing for about $400 per tire, I get them for around $300 a piece through my friend at Town Fair Tire. The T1-S' wear out quickly, but reward you with excellent wet and dry performance. I end up replacing my tires every 15,000 miles or so. How do you like the BFG's, and do you know what the treadwear is on them? I think mine have a treadwear rating of 280.

RE: 20x8.5

Yeah i'm running spacers in the front of the car as well. But the tire is rubbing on the inside on the plastic cover inside tirewell. Wow, that is too expensive for me, i can get the bfg's for 250 a tire. so i will stick to that. I love my tires, they handle great in the rain and in dry conditions takes a lot to even bark the tires they stick great. Not to sure on the treadwear but i have about 6000 miles on them maybe a lil more because of the extra mileage i did going cross country.
