Changing the 1 to 2 accumulator is proactive maintenance, as is installing a trans cooler. They should be your first mods. I believe the chip does increase the line pressure, but I have no idea how that would affect the accumulators. If you are going to be working on the trans you may also want to install a shift kit.

Yes................I can't wait to do the MAF! :)

The reason for the 1-2 acc. piston/upgrade question, is that I remembered someone a few years back saying that "If you had never changed the trans fluid and you had allot of miles on your car that it might be better to leave it (Fluid and springs/pistons) alone due to the stuff that might be in there holding it all together". They said that with a high mileage car, after a change of fluid and acc. upgrade.....they had bigger trouble start (Shudder, etc...) I guess that sounds Crazy!! Just trying to be smart with the Trans on this one....my 93 Mark had trouble!!

Any additional thoughts????

Thanks, Joe

RE: 94K miles (LMS Chip vs. 1-2 Acc. Upgrade)

I hate it when they say that!

You will never know unless you look. You have to pull the pan off, get Mercon all over you and personally assess your situation. If the fluid is clean, not burnt; the pan is clean, not sludged; the filter is clean, no grunge; take some fluid and strain through a paper towel. Abundant brass colored or steel colored sparkles are bad. Some dark particles(friction material) may be normal. If it looks ok - go for it! If there is a question, you can have someone else look at it or just button it back up, pour the old fluid back in, top it off(you didn't drain the TC yet) and drive around with your fingers crossed.

IMHO, if it's gonna go, it's only a question of time. One thing for certain... I would rather service it than chance it.

RE: 94K miles (LMS Chip vs. 1-2 Acc. Upgrade)

Hey John (Driller) .....Thanks for the very usefull advice!! :) I think I'll check into having the acc. piston/springs upgrade done soon, I would hate to get the LMS chip put in and my new "Heavy" foot to cause some unexpected trouble with the Trans. I had this done on my 93 Mark and I remember how much more firm and crisp the shifts felt after it had been done. My mechanic told me after he did it "Wow, this thing will jerk a crick in your neck when it shifts".....Ha Ha!

BTW.....I would love to see some pics of your 91 LSC........Ever thought about selling it?

Sorry....I found your Pics! Looks Great!! :)

Thanks Again, Joe

I did both the 1-2 fix and the shift kit, got used to that over a few months, then got a chip ;) raising the bar for neck snappiness!

BTW if you geta new MAF be sure check your a/f mix!
