95 got some fun pipes

i have thought about the winter and water issues and i will adress it later. it will be completely bolt on so come winter, i can take it off and go back to stock setup. i like to be different and everyone some people put on cowl hoods just becasue. some maybe for fututre plans and some for looks. this way my cowl hood is for a reason, not one for increase of power, but to have something different.

the clamps on the tips are so i can remove them and keep them buffed and clean. the clamps and pipes will get a coat of black paint so you wont even notice them.

as far as the height, it wont be much higher than a cowl hood that people slap on, i am going to custom make a cowl hood and have the opening of the scoop just above it. so its not going to be overly obtrusive.

It looks like it will have to be much higher than what a typical cowl hood would be IMHO. But it's a personal preference I guess.

I'm all for "different", I like my vehicles to all be different than the run of the mill variety.

Good luck with the project and I hope it turns out well for you. You've obviously put a lot of thought and effort into it. :)

yea its been a work in progress, a slow progress but progress none the less.

ill be sure to post updates when they come

no it was done at Unique Custom Exhaust in Burlington,MA. Anthony(who ownes the shop) used to work at a Loue's chain for almost 10 years and didnt like how things went with them but he had customers that would come there just for his work. so he ended up leaving and starting his own shop. he takes his time to make sure its done right the first time. done for $250 i supplied the xpipes and did the tip setup myself later

if anyone is interested

That web address doesn't seem to work...

so you get from the cats back (not counting the X pipes and tips) done for $250... what size pipe?

BTW, you didn't think the straight pipes were loud enough? :D

he actually came to check out my exhaust before doing his, I haven't heard from him in a long time. He was a nice guy though. He might just be busy he was going to school for mechanical engineering, its a tough program, I did electrical engineering, it sure kept me busy.

I want to do pipes on the grey car, but the local place down here wants like $300+ just to remove the rear muffs and put in pipe... all like 2 feet that it would need on each side...

BTW, you have a PM... or e-mail... I forget...

Did you go to louse in Plymouth or westport and see what they want? If you go to the west port shop tell them Eric with the black Lincoln sent you, they should give you a good price. Make sure you insist they use stainless weld wire.

No, I haven't been to either of those places...

I thought it was more the gas (or lack of) when they weld that makes a difference...

Yea welding with argon will make a cleaner weld. If they use steel wire it will rust to he'll before anything else......ask me how I know lol. Welding with stainless wire is a pain in the ass for them but your pipes won't fall apart at the welds in 4 or 5 years.

For what it's worth, I had the Lou's in Brockton weld up my Borla on my Explorer. It needed some extra pipe since the kid I bought the exhaust from cut the inlet pipes up thinking he could make it work on his different setup, so it wasn't exactly straightforward. They charged me hourly and it came out to $120.
