98 LSC engine problems, no codes

I have a 98LSC with 117,000 miles on it that will not run correctly. I purchasedt his car this way. it has 150-161lbs compression, new fuel filter, changed tps because scanner (friends) was showing it not functioning properly. I dont think anything helped. The car idles great and if you accelerate (in neutral) slowly it is/sounds fine but any "normal movement" of throttle and it seems to loose power. If throttle is hit hard it goes into a rev-limiter mode at approx 4,000rpm's! I have not checked the fuel pressure as of yet (need to purchase guage). Would low pressure (fuel) make this engine go into a rev-limiter that low? If not what could? Any help is appreciated, Thank You in advance. Chuck
