Added a chip

Looking for some feedback. I just installed a Reinhart chip today. I have the 180 T-stat, but haven't installed it yet. I will this weekend. The trans feels tremendously different in a good way, actually, a great way! Throttle feels a bit more reponsive especially down low. Pulls more smoothly up to about 6-62K RPM. Holds gears a bit longer too. Shifts like it should, I think. Here's my question: Does it take a few key cycles for the car to learn it's complete programing? Or, is it the best it's gonna be? The reason I ask is because the car doesn't "feel" any quicker than it did before. I will run the G-Tech on it to see for sure. I've never "chipped" a car before, so I really didn't know what to expect. All my stuff was always BIG cams, BIG carbs, BIG headers and so on. Don't get me wrong, I'm very happy with the chip just looking for someone elses observations. The current mods are: Chip, 3" exhaust, no third cat or resonator, splits into 2.5 at the differential into Magnaflows, took off all restrictions in the intake tube, drilled holes on front of air box, FMS 9MM wires, Denso Iridium plugs. Thanks

RE: Added a chip

Run the G-Tech and see. As you should know, a chip will change your fuel tables, your ignition timing, and boost your tranny line pressure.

The first time I added a chip with no other mods, I was amazed at the difference. There should be something more than just a stiffer shift.

RE: Added a chip

IMHO, if it is shifting better, that alone says it is quicker. If you have some Gtech times from before, run it again and compare the corrected numbers. If by chance you don't, pull the chip and run it, then re-install the chip and repeat. As far as key cycles vs. programming, I can only say I myself did not detect any changes over time once the car was chipped.

RE: Added a chip

Driller, I would have to agree with you. The faster shifts would enhance the times some. I guess I was looking for a bigger HP/torque gain. Maybe it's just supposed to optomized the combination that you are currently running, so it's safe..ie A/F ratio and such. No doubt, it has changed my lower RPM power. I guess I was looking for more power at a higher RPM. Probably the "boost" out of the hole is what will make it record faster times. For the record though, I'm very pleased with the overall performance of the chip. I'm a super-critical person, thus the questions. I have some dyno time set-up for February so I'll post the results then. I'll pull the chip and replace it to see HP gains.
