[div class="dcquote"][strong]Quote[/strong]Taking the air ride out of a Mark is like castration. It's part of what the Mark is. Don't castrate your Mark
I always see Mark VIII's on ebay listed with new coil over suspension or air-ride delete or whatever and I always cringe.Chad[/div]http://stuweb.ee.mtu.edu/~marmille/smileys/blahblah.gifcastration...it is not....an acceptable way to improve upon something once the original has failed. Priorities gang...if load levelling, and the novelty of having a car raise or lower for you is what you like, then keep the air ride. But if you wish to improve upon the handling, and reliability of your car's suspension, and minimize the over-all cost of ownership, then feel free to do what thousands of others have done, and install a coil conversion.remember who paid for the car, ok?...also...it IS possible to convert just the front, but you will eventually encounter fences in the set up. Best to do it all, and have peace of mind throughout.Oh and before anyone says anything....I have both...my 94 has coils(lowered/thicker rear sway bar) and our 97 still has the air ride, along with Eddie's killer "spider extreme"...not many out there have BOTH, so not many out there have much say in the whole "coils vs air ride" arguement.

So far three different people in the Houston Area have contacted me with problems related to Coil Coversions.
1 swapped to coils and is now working on getting his air ride "BACK".
1 against my advice swapped out only the fronts, and now has a problem getting air into the rears.
1 swapped to coils and now says his ride is far worse than it was with the air springs
ZERO have said they "liked" the conversion other than it was pretty simple to install.
Just because it's "simple" doesnt mean its the best option,
SETTING FIRE to the car is simple, but once again.. not the best option IMHO
3 for 3 here in texas are not happy with the results of their air ride conversion.
California residents may be different..scratch that.. California residents ARE different. { jus joking Craig)
I've also noticed quite a few mark 8's on Ebay with coil conversions.
I suspect the owners had air ride problems, swapped to coils and now they are selling the car...
Kinda makes ya go HMMMMMM doesnt it?
I've only heard ONE very vocal supporter of Coil Conversions, someone who spent the money and did it themselves....
ONE Supporter out of how many users on this board?
Same user had a coil coversion kit NAMED after him...
{grins}
Again.. kinda makes ya go HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM doesnt it?
