Air Ride Suspension Life

Then REMOVED IT SHALL BEEEE!!! :D
I am losing patience with this thing. I removed three screws and it still won't come out. I don't want to have to remove the bumper...

Thank you, Steve.

Here is pic after the snorkel has been removed. You can see the compressor and should be able to reach up front and unplug the connector (long arms required).

Yes!
RRRRoadboss comes thru with a pic without the silencer!
Now, back to what I need to do with the vent solenoid...

What do I do about the vent solenoid?

If you take out your air cleaner filter box you i believe you can reach down in the hole (skinny arms / hands ) and get at some of the connections.

It all depends how handy you are. You've seen the thread started by Beerdog and he is at trying to replace his vent. The other option is to go to American Air Suspension and get one of his rebuilt and warranted units. I have also bought his Spider Valves to by pass the vent which also extends compressor life. With yours having sat so long, and the condition of the bags I suspect it has been very exposed to moisture from the system and has rusted the innards up. JMHO

Oh yeah, check these pics out. I think the V/S is toast.
Water came out when I popped the back.

OK, I give, why are you looking at the vent valve?

Is your car not venting now? Is it too high?

I thought your car wasn't raising?

Bill- the compressor section probably is rusted from moisture as well, so it has given up functioning, which is a good reason why the system is failing.

I wish you lived around here, I'd stop by with some known good parts (sensors, module) and we could try swapping them in.

Do you know anyone near you with a Mark VIII?

Sorry it took so long to respond folks. I went on vacation to Washington NC.
I have a local guy who has been supplying me with MK VIII parts. He and I will be friends for a long time.

Anyway, it seems obvious that the problem is the vent solenoid, it was full of brown water and when I put a current through it nothing happened.

I just replaced a vent solenoid. It is very easy. Not sure if you can buy them. the bad one I replaced was also very rusty inside the chamber. It cleaned up well. Remember to reseal the top.

I saw your post Beerdog, it was the key to me finding the hard fault.
Thanks.

Now I need to get my local guy to pull a compressor from one of his parts cars.

And she is Back! :roll_over:

Nyghtshayd is up off the ground! :love-it:
Thank you all for you help. :wave022:

I think now, with all I learned about the air ride system, I won't be converting Nyghtshayd any time soon. Plenty parts available and repairs only take about an hour.

On to the the next repair...
