Alternator #4 Died

Alternator number 4 died yesterday. about 2 months and 1800 miles...

I'm giving up on the rebuilds and going to try a cobra unit from Torrie....

The funny part is I finally ran out of cars.

The taurus has a rough idle I think is either internal motor damage or the torque converter.

I loaned my tbird to my dad while his Mark was getting fixed.

The motorcycle has both wheels off of it to get new tires, but the guy who was going to do it flaked and I've been too busy to deal with it.

Who says life's not interesting!

RE: Alternator #4 Died

Are you driving around with a lightning rod attached to your engine or what??

You may need to look for a serious short somewhere......four is too many..

You know there's a reason beyone the normal for this. SOMETHING is beating the snot out of the electrical system. Try putting a meter on it and leaving it on for a while and watch how often the system asks for a charge.

RE: Alternator #4 Died

I'm beyond a simple meter... I'm at driving around with huge chunks of electrical disabled at at time tracking it... fitting a meter instead of my tach....

I think the commanlity is the same outfit rebuilding them and their lack of confidence in them...

Alternators are one part I always go new OEM on. Few shops that rebuild do so very well. Its now worth deep cycling a battery over.
