another ugly mark......

RE: another ugly mark......

Notice the black grill? someone trying to mod a lil here and a lil there??

RE: another ugly mark......

If he took that crappy pinstipr off then all we would notice are those high class snaps all over the place. he should snap a cape on the back of that thing and fly it away.

RE: another ugly mark......

It amazes me what some people would think looks good! For those unsure about modifying or doing little extras to your car, consult the experts lol!

RE: another ugly mark......

If that is supposed to be a Vinyl top, which is horrid to begin with, and not a fake convertible top, why in the world would they put convertible boot cover snaps on this?

RE: another ugly mark......

Because THAT IS WHAT they had on the truck that came to install that top, and the normal (or average) car-buyer is so damn dumb, un-enlightened, non-realizing, bamboozled and out of touch that he/she would never in 1,000 years realize what you pointed out. Less than 20% of the cars on the road have the correct lines to carry a pin stripe well, making the pin stripe compliment the car...yet, 90% of the cars have a pin stripe! I have never worked for a dealer that pin striped "inventory" cars. Therefore, it's something the buyer either requests, or the salesman is able to sell the buyer. Taurus with pin stripe and simulated convertible roof (SIM-CON) are all over here in NJ, ruining the scenery!
Other things, too. To me, a deVille with blackwalls is hideous, put narrow white stripe tires on it, or it looks like a livery car. Impalas with Sim-Cons, too are runnin' loose. There's a PT-Loser runnin around with a simulated convertible top, WITH a luggage rack mounted ON the Sim-Con! Car is Black, Sim-Con is White !! (Luggage Rack is Black!!) No accounting for car-taste!

RE: another ugly mark......

Actually they have been done before, in a sorta kinda twist. In 1952 or 1953 0r 1954 Ford offered a Sunliner convertible (a real convertible) that had a clear plastic panel where today's modern sun Roof panel would go, over the driver/passenger area. The idea was the "see outside' even with the top up. The idea was short lived. 1.5 years. Then, if you can recall, (I know, you weren't born yet,) but in 1954 they offerred the Mercury Sun Valley with a green tinted plexi-glass roof panel.
I could live with a sim con & a moonroof, but a sim con on a Taurus, Impala..... yeech

RE: another ugly mark......

Paul, can you find anything on that soft top convertible with the clear plastic "sun roof" thing?

RE: another ugly mark......

removable bubble hard top made of clear plastic for the '46/'48 Fords. That had to be HOT inside.

Sorry, I don't remember that one, as I was way too busy sucking on a bottle of formula and watching my mobile spin over my head in my crib painted with lead paint trim. (THAT really bothered me!) :) Later Mom took me to the Dr for check ups in a car with NO seat belts !!
Then, later, when I was 10 years old, we got rid of that old heap (chevy - 1950 and got a new Imperial (1957). A wonder I wasn't beheaded! I sat in the back with these new things called Power Windows and made them go up & down & down & up. I used to put things in their way and watch the power window crush them! Paper cups were fun as were straws and once an egg that silly putty came in and it broke the egg & kept going up up up. Good thing I never got the idea to put my hand in there, right ?? When Mom yelled at me to leave them alone...that's when I invented a game called "Spin the Vent" ~ air conditioning supplemental vents on the rear hat shelf that were mounted on sweval bases That you could spin. They were like tops, if you spin them hard enough you could get 4 complete rotations outta them. There were 4 - it was cool fun to spin one, then two, then 3 & finally 4, and try & keep them all going at the same time.
This drove Dad bonkers!!! Once, I got smacked!! :(

RE: another ugly mark......

Now I'm sure there is someone out there who wouldn't mind being buried in that automocasket.
