First of all here's the good news. I'm not sure if everyone remembers my last post but it was a discussion on the popping noise some of us hear when the front suspension dives. It was a mysterious subject untill someone, and forgive me for not remembering his name, however, this 'someone' said that it's the door hinges. I took this as a very very very long shot but lo and behold if I open my door and make the front end dive the popping noise goes away. :7 Good Stuff!!!

BUT, before I figured that out, and once again to refer back to my last thread, what I had done is replace the lower control arms in order to get rid of the pop. Needless to say it didnt' work, but unfortionately for me I took the car back to the shop to have the Lower Control arms TIGHTENED in order to troubleshoot the popping sound. After tightening the lower control arms the car makes a horrendous THUNK!@! when I turn the wheel sometimes. I took the car back to the mechanic and took him for a ride. He said that it's not the suspension but that the noise was coming from the transmission somewhere, and it may be a transmission mount. I was in a rush that day and didn't have time to leave the car for any work so I was off, but I ask you guys. Could it be that tightening the lower control arms is somehow torquing the transmission in it's mounts to cause this terrible noise? If I got to the shop tomarrow and untighten those lower control arms a bit does anyone think it could stop this problem?

RE: Another "woe is me" post. Very wierd noise.

I fixed your subject line.

Tightening the lower control arms can't really affect the trans mount. Could be coincidence, or it could be misdiagnosed (the tranny mount that is). Don't have them loosen your lower control arms. I had a similar thunk when one of my control arms wasn't tight enough. Find a way to replicate it consistently, and look at your control arms. Then make it thunk, stop immediately, and make sure the control arms are still in the same spot. Mine would shift going around a turn and change the alignment. Which is why i don't go to sears for alignments any more (like 5 tries and they never got it right).

I don't think I'll be out there to race anytime soon ,but will come out to sit and shoot the ****. Might give me a reason to polish up the mark.

BTW thanks for the info on the door hinges. :D

Well your more than welcome to come hang out.. and you could even polish on your car.. in the pits.
I sometimes pass the time, or calm my nerves by doing "just that".

Glad to hear your popping sound has been found.
My passenger side hinge is still popping...(lol)
