Anti-Theft light on my dash dings and flashes if i open the door.

Car is off
In Park

Getting in, or leaving.

Fuse or battery issue? Can i reset it?

I'm confused too now... It looks like he stated that the keys were out when he mentioned the chime and the flashing light... I quoted him in post #8 ... when he mentioned that.

yes.
keys out
car in park
everything off

then...
open door, and anti theft dings like i have keys in ignition still. They are not.

It's not doing anything other than dinging, so it doesnt mess anything up. It just boggles my GF and I.

This can be caused by the the collar around the key switch if its loose due to wear it can cause this to happen. Also Put a dab of molly lube on the key and exercise the key switch with it the tumblers may be getting a little sticky. The blinking anti theft light is supposed to happen. When you lock the doors using the remote or the power door lock switch it will go to solid green denoting its armed. Then it will go out after a little bit of time.

The anti-theft flash is normal.

The chime is not.

I bet you can wiggle test the ignition lock with the door open and the keys out and make the chime quit. It will get worse before it gets better. A new ignition lock cylinder assembly will fix it.

Correct. I had semi good luck with using a graphite lubrication on the key on my 96 Cougar where the chime would not shut off. And when that didn't work, all it took to get it to shut off would be to rotate the ignition switch until it shut off.

I always assumed the only way to fix it for real would be to replace the ignition switch.

Hold on there... You may be confusing two different parts.

The ignition switch is located far down on the steering column and you can't "rotate" it. It just goes straight up and down. The ignition lock cylinder can be rotated and it is what the key is inserted into.
