WHAT ??? We need separate 1st and 2nd gen classes ... this is BS.

Do you think there is anything we can do at this point ?

Same location as last year ?

I checked in at Carlsile and it seems like they have combined Gen 1 and Gen 2 Mark VIII together! How did this happen? [/div]

Not enough pre-registered? :B

RE: Arrived & see there is a class change!

Being that I help organize a classic car show every year(not near the volume as Carlisle, only 600 cars), one thing that we always struggle to do every year is GUESS how many cars will show up that weren;t "pre-registered".

we base the car classes the following year on what was in attendance the year before. For example, last year we did not have a separate MOPAR class because the prior year not many showed up. Well, last year about 12 Mopars showed up the day of the show and they had to be put in the "non-specific 60-76" classes(stock or modified, respectively)...many of them complained because they were being judged against the likes of 63 split window Vette's, and many other "more popular" cars. So, this year, we created a specific class just for the Mopars in anticipation of the turn out...well, only 3 pre-registered...if only a couple show up the day of the show, there really isnt any honor for the top 3 winners if only 5 showed up, ya know?

so,...pre registering IS very important for a car show commitee to help guage not only the amount of cars they KNOW will be there, plus it helps them decide NEXT YEAR what to do..in this year's case, they probably didnt have the turn out they expected, so they put you all together.

let THIS YEAR serve as NEXT YEAR'S example folks....

planning on bringing a sweet ride next year? PRE-REGISTER!!!

sorry you folks have to now be grouped all together. many of you have the passion, but some of you invest a lot of time in to the details, and showmanship of your rides to help earn the hardware(trophies/bragging rights).

now it looks like Jeremi's modified gen 2 will have to compete with his old 95 that also has an extensive list of mods.

Plus, now all you pristine Gen 1 owners will have to go up against....MOOSE!!!

just remember folks...it's only a show...go for the company, the atmosphere, the experience, and try to have a good time. win or place second, or even third, you're all winners in my book...because you went to the show.

PICS!

RE: Arrived & see there is a class change!

It is easy to get new judging classes set up, if there there are enough cars in each class. The Carlisle organizers want 12 cars in each class, with a minimum of 7. If there are enough cars preregistered they will create a new class if asked by a club leader. If they see that there were fewer than 7 cars in a class at the show, the class gets removed the following year.

RE: Arrived & see there is a class change!

PLEASE pre-register next year, guys. It shows on the registration confirm you get from Carlisle that you can cancel and get your money back up to 19 days before the show.

I know a lot of people enjoy the show-and-shine, and feel like there's not much chance of winning an award with so few classes. We could be on the main grounds, instead of up on the mountain. This would be a great help to our members that have a hard time getting around. I still remember the year we had 75 show up, and how cool it was to have so many of us together. We always have a great time!! :+

I think the BOD should be sure to appoint an aggressive club rep to the Carlisle people who's SOLE job is to be sure we have our proper say with them and make sure classes are properly determined, tent arranged, etc. After all, we even have a dedicated bench by the stage, that should count for something.

That would be cool - an LOD Special Representative :D

Good idea. There should be someone to head up ALL arrangements at large meets, including WFC and Carlisle.
