Does anyone have any experience or oppinions on audiobahn as far as component speakers go? Specifically their 3 way component speaks?? A friend of mine swears by them, but he also thinks that his 97 civic is god's gift to the car world, so i dont know what to think...They sound pretty good. Any other suggestions on a 3 way component set up for the front sound stage is appreciated.

RE: Audiobahn

i used to really like audiobahn... But my recent audiobahn purchase has turned that around.... everything i bought blew itself up after 2 weeks... I wouldnt buy from them again

RE: Audiobahn

Audiobahn sucks pretty bad, but hey they have chrome! :) There used to be an expression in car audio, if it sounds like crap, chrome it and they will buy it.

RE: Audiobahn

yeah, I was debating dropping the wad on the focal 165 K3, the poly kevlar series, the next step up from the polyglass.

I would love a set of rainbows, if you want to lend me the 7 G's....

Anyone heard anything about the Kicker Resolution series?

RE: Audiobahn

Only the Rainbow References are $7000, then there is the Rainbow Platinum which is $2000, Rainbow Pro 3 ways (what I have) which are $1000, then a few other 2 ways like Pro Extreme, Vandiums, etc.

Focal Utopia's are about the only Focal set I'd consider. That's the set with the better tweeter, the rest all have very harsh tweeters.

I used to own a set of resolutions, they were awesome. They could get super super loud, and still play clean. I loved the tweeter too. I can't speak as much for the SQ since when I had them I wasn't as into it as much. You can get them as low as $160 certain places, which for the price are the best speakers you can get IMHO.

RE: Audiobahn

yeah, i saw those, they fall right into about the same price range (actually a little cheaper) as the Focal Utopias. ill have to give it some more thought. im buying some front speakers within the next week, so we'll see. In the mean time, any input is still appreciated.

With the resolutions, I was thinking about getting a 2 way 5.25 set and then adding a 6.5 mid-bass in on the other two amp channels. Which leads me to my next question, If I have a 4 channel amp, and I want all four channels to go to the front, can I use the 'Front' line level inputs and then jump off of the pre amp outputs and put it back in for 'rear' so that the 'front' and the 'rear' are playing the same thing?? I plan on having a separate, smaller amp for rear fill. just making sure the amp wouldn't cook itself if I tried to do that...

RE: Audiobahn

on second thought, Il will run the rear fills off of the 4 channel amp and get another amp to do the mid-bass, that sounds like a better idea

RE: Audiobahn

To each his own but I thought the rockford Q's sounded aweful. The Kickers were much more detailed, and not nearly as harsh.

I would get the Kicker 6.5's and if you want a midbass get the RMB8. It's an awesome super slim midbass (2.5 inches deep i think) The kicker 6.5 still slams fairly well by itself.

If you want 4 channels to play off of one set of preamps, just get some RCA splitters (Y cables). Remember to power only midbasses you'll need crossovers (low and high) to limit the midbass' frequencies.
