We went back out to Ubly Dragway today. It was the last day they're open for the season. Temp was around 50 degrees.
We made it out there with my lincoln, and two '89 XR7's, both with supercharged 3.8's, one with a stick, one with an automatic.
The stick car got a best of 14.6, i got a best of 14.7 (again), and the automatic XR7 got a best of 14.8. They were running right around 90 mph, though, and i was running 96-100 mph.
Ther place was deserted today. You could run as many times as you wanted, just drive right up to the lights. I made 28 passes today. Ran slammed, at stock height, and in between. Tried out some slicks. Let it shift itself, and shifted manually. Figured out that i can bump up my mph just a tad if i let it hit third right before the line. It shifts hard enough to help me out. For the most part though, i did best shifing manually 1-2, then popping it in drive so it uses 3rd, flashing the t/c from idle, and running all but slammed. Slamming it seems to help the speed by 1-2 mph.
My bests of the day:
Best e/t: 14.799
Best mph: 100.381
Best reaction: .503
Car was running lots of 14.9's and 15.0's. Got a couple of 14.8's and a 14.7 out of it. Most of my reaction times were in the .6-.8 range, but i got 2-3 nearly perfect, and red lighted 2-3 times (got a .499, that was kinda frustrating). My mph's were running 96-97 at stock height, and 98-99 slammed, with one 100 mph pass. Am i the first to run 100 in the quarter with no power adders and stock gears? I was really pushing for that 100 mph, i had a 99.1 and a 99.9 right before it.
Today was definitely a good day though. I have some crazy burnout pictures of myself with the slicks. I just roasted the hell out of them for the camera. I could barely see the tree when it was time to run. We got there at 1:30 and left at 5:00, but we left for an hour to run to the auto parts store in the next town to pick some stuff up for one of the cougars. So that's 28 runs in 2.5 hours at the track, and i took plenty of breaks between runs.
