By the way, how about a clip with the car in park, and just revving it?

I'd like to hear this as well before i purchase these.

UPDATE:

My friend Dave went out and purchased the same mufflers for his 96. Having bumper cut outs allowed him to go with a 4" oval tip, welded "straight" for the mufflers to have an un-obstructed flow. it sounds a ton nicer than my car.

Here's some pics of his set up:

I'll record a sound clip soon for you. But for now, let me say this... 1900 rpms, barely on the throttle...there is some minor drone...I like it that way!

That looks great on the 96 - same year and color as mine! If you have a chance, could you post a clip of it at idle and under hard acceleration?

I have this exact setup all brand new with Magnaflow tips welded if anyone wants it...

I had been researching exhausts for this car and after reading this thread I decided on this Dynomax bullet setup and found some really nice Magnaflow tips to go with it. I had it all welded and fitted in the car, and then pulled it all back out 4 days later. It was just a bit too loud at wide open throttle for me. I actually found that I missed the quite ride of the stocker mufflers, as odd as that sounds! Maybe I am getting old?? If anyone wants the setup I'd be happy to work something out with another Mark VIII fan. The part number of the Magnaflow tips is #35136, and the Dynomax mufflers are all 2 1/2".

I am sorry to hear that(no pun intended). I have a friend who owns 5 Mark VIII's, and drives many muscle cars on weekends, as well as a 9 second drag car. He also wants to keep his "stock, quiet" Lincoln. He said "the bullets sound awesome, but for me, it's nice to have 1 quiet car"...cant say I blame him. But everyone's priorities are unique...me? I'd rather hear this 4 cam, than not. Besides, the car should sound as good as it looks, right?

we just slapped a set on our 97 LSC as well. Now it sounds as good as it looks.

I wonder if your tips amplified the sound...all of the Mark VIII's with bullets I have done are very quiet, unless you stomp on it, or walk the throttle at 1900 rpms, finding that resonance sweet spot.

These are much quieter than my old flowmasters I had on my 96 Grand marquis...that sled would make car alrms go off!

anyway, perhaps a price? Many folks here might just want to buy your set up, instead of doing it piece-meal. Oh, and how about a picture of the bullets/tips?

again, sorry you didnt like my set up.

midmount those badboys and had two x pipes, 1 after and 2 before the bullets... those do look to be sounding loud since they are a straight thru design.... i do could do a 2 wheel burnout on my stock 96 mark 8..... now just p&p the heads....

For a gen 2 LSC for removing the 3rd cat do you all recommend using a X pipe or the magnaflow with built in x pipe ?

Shop told me the bullets would be too loud with the X pipe and the center mounted magnaflow would quiet the exhaust down some + prevent drone. I'm concerned that it would make the exhaust too mellow but that's only a guess.

Any suggestions ?

On my Gen 2 I got 2 X pipes, and some fancy mufflers. I love how she sounds, although some say it's loud (like my neighbors hee hee), and I went with the 2 x's to eliminate drone.
