Blue Angel # 5 low pass

The Official Blue Angels website says:
" What are the fastest and slowest speeds flown during an air show?
The fastest speed is about 700 mph (just under Mach 1; Sneak Pass) and the slowest speed is about 120 mph (indicated speed; Section High Alpha), both flown by the solo pilots during the show."< br />
There you go. Probably varies place to place but they put the utmost trust in these pilots to wow the crowds while maintaining legality--even if it is the military.

There was a lot of information just under that video....

Umm while that was cool... I really think it was reckless... those guys crash on a regular basis... there is no point in endagering innocent civillians.

i agree with all the people and boats on the water that seems a little closer than it should have been allowed, and i grew up at airshows and i could tell you if any elderly folks were out there that was enough to get a heart attack going, jets that low and loud coming up that fast is enough to scare the hell out of anyone.

They may crash once in a while, but definately not on a regular basis. Those guys are the best of the best, and probably have more flight hours than you do driving hours. According to wikipedia there have been 26 fatalities since the beginning in 1946. 26 in 61 years isnt that bad.

...and they were none on the ground, nor have included any injuries from spectators.

Best of the best or not...

Also to quote Wikipedia

"Through the 2006 season there have been 262 pilots and squad leaders in the squad's history, giving the job a 10% fatality rate"

Please tell me any other profession with a 10% fatality rate... My point still stands.
