Cadillac El Camino

RE: Cadillac El Camino

I LOVE IT!! You know what I think it is though... it's an early 80's funeral flower car.

RE: Cadillac El Camino

I don't think it's actually a flower car. I could be totally wrong, but there were quite a few companies in the 70's and 80's who still did weird coachwork on Cadillacs (ie, trucks, wagons, convertibles, coupe Sevilles, etc). Flower cars have much higher beds, so the flowers sit higher than the roof of the car, some even have room for the casket under the flowers, they also usually have rails along the beds, and remnants of the back doors still on the bed portion. This looks like one that was just intended for private use. Chris

RE: Cadillac El Camino

That's Jack Neilson's car. He is a Odd-Caddy collector. He has a Cadillac station wagon that he "claims" was a factory-custom used to promote a new line up(1974 I think) when Caddy was "experimenting".

He has 2 of those El Caddy-mino's, a Cadi-wagon, and 3 Cadillac pick-up trucks. All are pre 1984 Caddy's.

If you think that one is odd, he has a pro-street cadillac Cimeron...yea, its ugly.

San Rafael, right John?

Oh, and if anyone really wants to know what this guy is like...1984 Cutlass drag car-9.50's at 145 mph, wheels up, full interior. Its a Super Stock champion car. He is known as "the salty one".

RE: Cadillac El Camino

Yep - it was in San Rafael.

Back in 1969 I did see a Caddy station wagon, but I don't know the history behind it at all, but it was owned by a wealthy family...

BTW - 'went to the NASCAR race at Infineon today - what a blast!

There is a guy around here that has one of those Caddy wagons, too. This and the one here look too much alike to be homebuilts.

I saw a Castilian in that same color at Atlantic City in February. It is magnificent.

didnt they have a caddy wagon in ghostbusters movie
[/div]

The Ecto-1 from Ghostbusters was a converted 1959 Cadillac Ambulance. The Ambulance itself was a conversion by a coachbuilder of the time.
