Car is stumbling and running badly

Can anyone tell me where the two O2 sensors are on a 97 LSC Mark...I'm sure that when I change them, my car will run better.

Thanks

RE: Car is stumbling and running badly

There are multitude of issues that could be a factor in your car running badly. First we need more information to determine the problem.
1. How many miles are on your car?
2. Did you pull your codes if you have a check engine light?

This sounds like a coil failure so check and replace any broken ignition coils.
FYI the 96+ Mark VIIIs have 4 O2 sensors 2 before and 2 after the cats.

Let me know if you need more help.

RE: Car is stumbling and running badly

I have had the coils checked and all are good. My car has 120,000 and was running great until right after Hurricane Katrina came through. The gas being sold around the Biloxi/Mobile area was coming up bad, and I'm sure I had a tank full of it along the way. However, I've since run it all out. The stumbling, hesitation, and foul smelling exhaust tells me I'm having a fuel issue. The O2 sensors have never been changed on the car, and I'm thinking it is making it run very rich, not to mention my gas mileage "sucks" since this issue started.

I haven't pulled any codes yet. Will do this evening if I can get off early enough. Stationed at Keesler AFB, live in Mobile AL>

RE: Car is stumbling and running badly

You are correct about the Smell, that is an 02 issue. Pull the codes so that you know which ones went bad. Also you should probably change your fuel filter if you are certain about the bad gas.

RE: Car is stumbling and running badly

Thanks Max for the info

Yup, did that already, cause at first I thought maybe the fuel filter was clogged or had contaniment residue from the all the bad gas that was flooding the market. You have to be careful around here cause even the gas that was being sold on base was bad, and that was just a few weeks ago. They don't sell premium anymore.

Are those O2 Sensors hard to change? Should I change all four of them? Or just the two before the CAT?

RE: Car is stumbling and running badly

wouldn't change all 4 unless all are throwing codes. They are quite pricy. So it all depends on what you want to do. If you're already doing 2 might as well do all 4. I think the driver’s side was the harder side to change, although I am not 100% sure. All are doable, just make sure you soak them in PB Blaster, and don't drive the car (DUH ;) ).
