Car Show Coincidence

We went to a Mustang/Ford/Mercury/Lincoln show today, 26 miles West in a NJ town called Randolph. At Jack Trebour Ford. I went because a good pal with a 1-of-2 ascMcLaren was showing his '89 in Paris Blue. What a car, 100% flaweless as in "Day-1" ~ About 75 cars showed up at the dealer's simply beautiful dealership in park-like setting and music and all the usual jazz.

So, we are walking in, and I spot a '98 Collector's~Edition in Cordovan and it looks "NEW" ~ I'll tell Karen that I am gonna introduce myself & give him one of the cards that Steve Traino gave me and tell him about the LOD ! He is working feverishly cleaning his car and I am taken in by the 75 or so rare & classic & flawelss Mustangs, Torinos, Marks....'Ya my friend's ascMcLaren and a new $68,000 Saleen Speedster, supercharged 281. So, I approach the guy and start my "speech" ~ he turns & says, "Hey...I am a member of the LOD.....Who are you?" - So I made the introductions and it turns out to be Ron Banach of Toms River, NJ who tells me that he was also at Carlisle, next to Alexander! Small World! So, it turns out that he's a car salesman too, at a Lincoln-Mercury store, so we yakked it up like a couple of old women, while his lady-friend and my wife actually walked around looking at the cars. Now, Karen wants a '63 T-B Sports Roadster!! We talked "shop" for hours and plan on getting together the 4 of us for dinner sometime. His Mark is beautiful, and he's a great guy and a laugh a minute.
(I think) :) it was a great show too! Ron says he is on here alot & reads alot but does not post to much, but sends his regards to everyone. All Ford Show next Sunday at Willowbrook Mall. Just in time for hurricane Isabella!!! :(
PS/ Ron has 2 Town Cars in stock 100% identical to mine & loves them and has a BIG BLOCK Corvette + other "toys" ~
It was truly a GREAT day! I have photos but no knowledge to post. HELP MATT!!

RE: Car Show Coincidence

They are not digital format. Matt's got the digital camera. They are 35mm :( I'll get them developed & find a a way. Thanks for the offer, Moe!!

RE: Car Show Coincidence

When you get them developed just have them put them on a CD.

Actually, Sandy, if you come out to some LOD events, you won't be surprised when you run into the LOD members in your area. ;-) I'm from Chicago, and I've met Ron and have seen his award winning car. ;-)

RE: Car Show Coincidence

'Ya, his car's really nice! We were talking "shop" for what seemed like forever & we knew so many of the same people, dealers and people in the car business, it's almost like some sort of fraternal order or something! :)

Oh, and my friend with the 1989 McLaren.....He took 1st place in his class :)

RE: Car Show Coincidence

Sandy, did you take one of your McLaren's out there?

And what type of big block corvette?

We had our annual DARE carshow today. I was so upset with the way things where handled this year that I didn't even show my head there. Not like it would've mattered. Most of the judges don't know crap there. And the ones that did came up to me after everything was over and talked to me about it. But not much they can do when the overwhelming majority of them are schmucks straight off the street that just say ohhhh!!! look at the pretty car.

RE: Car Show Coincidence

Jay, I am sorry, but I don't remember, but I think it's a 1966. We talked SOoooo much ABOUT so much - that I can't recall. I know he has a L {something} 1970 Malibu, and a few 'Vettes.
We are gonna get together again, and I'll find out for you!! Promise!

No, when we left to go there, it was a light rain, and they forcast a heavy downpour, yet on the highway the sun was actually out! We got there at 10AM and it kept getting cloudy & then sunny, and for a few minutes the sun was out with a light drizzle. But, Sandy knew what was coming! At 3PM in 5 minutes it changed from cloudy/sunny to a thunderstorm with the fury of "H" ! So, I left the McLarens in scattered storage (they are all over) and took the Town Car, which has the rain sensing wipers. man - they are freaky. They sence rain, and go on automaticly, and then speed-adjust to the amount of rain falling. You shoulda seen them suckkers moving on the way home! The wipers were doing 60 MPH! When it let up - (after the roads were flooded) they slowed up and when the rain stopped, they shut off. WEIRD! Terrific - but startles the heck outta 'ya, at first! :)

RE: Car Show Coincidence

Wow, that must have been an isolated thunderstorm, no rain by me all day, and I am only about 30 miles away

RE: Car Show Coincidence

Steve, there was absolutely NO rain 5 miles down the road, in Whippany!! The storm was traveling north-south and we were traveling east-west. greenKIN was soaked, and people in East Hanover at red lights were eyeballing this totally soaked car, from their bone-dry cars! It was very weird! We heard that Rt 10 PAST Randolph (going west) was actually closed for an hour due to severe road flooding! People who wanted to go West leaving the show actually had to go east down to Rt 80 and get on 80West and go back.

I think the sight I'll never forget (that I have never seen before) was the sight of at least 50 convertible tops going up almost in unison!
