Carlisle 2003 - A Success

Despite the questionable weather forecast, All-Ford Carlisle was a success. It was a success because attendance was good and everyone had a good time.

There was drizzle on Saturday and Sunday morning and a downpour on Saturday afternoon, but the LOD tent and member's tents kept everyone dry. A lot of members showed up with Mark VIII and Mark VII's. We even had a few members with older Lincolns.

The Friday night annual meeting was progressive. We did not dwell on past events but concentrated on making changes to make this a better club for its members.

Saturday evening, the LOD cruised down to the Twin Kiss ice cream shop for some ice cream and the usual fun activities.

Saturday night the banquet hall we reserved was full. We had good food and great entertainment. LOD member Nick DeSpirito baked the beautiful LOD Black Forest cake. The talented LOD member Joe "BadSax" Bradley played his sax and flute for us. 21 trophies were given out to deserving members. The evening raffle generated $343 for the club with gifts generously donated by DF Motorsports, Lincoln Motorsport, Bill Hamilton and myself.

The club sold a lot of merchandise to its members at the event and signed up seven new members.

Next year will be even better. Don't miss it.

RE: Carlisle 2003 - A Success

Alex,
Great job.
I just want to say how nice it was to hang an party with all you guys and gals.
This is the best group one could ask for.
There were no problems, and no-one went to jail (there was some police "activity" leaving the ground round).
Let's just hope for better weather next year.
It was great meeting all of you out of state people.
I even got to ride the 'Red Whore'.
Anyone with pictures please post them (I forgot my camera).

A SUPER event, SUPER time, and with SUPER people. We were all winners and the only losers were those who couldn't be there. Next year will be our Fifth anniversy of the LOD. We really should try and make it something even more special and encourge our membership to attend even if this is the only one they ever can attend. There are car shows and then there is the Carlisle Event. There is a difference and it has to do the people and the fun we have. For the younger folks it's a 24-hour event :)......for the more "senior" members like myself it's still a 16 hour+ time of fun :(. Post your pic's so the guilty can see their crimes of fun :)

Even with the bad weather this was the best Carlisle yet. It was my 3rd year and they get better every year. Next year should even be better.

Rose and I had a great time at the show and the banquet. The food was great and the entertainment was excellent. Thanks, BadSax!

I can’t believe we missed the fun at Twin Kiss. It was still raining like crazy on Saturday when we left the fairgrounds, so we went back to the hotel for a nap before the banquet. Good thing you guys shot some video!

I’m already looking forward to next year. I sure hope the weather will be better!

Here are some pics from the banquet:

Thanks for the pic's George, but those pic's don't begin to convey the joy that was in Petey's face when he won that water bottle in the club drawings. I think he was happier with it than the trophy he later won. ;)
