Carlisle, a retrospective...

BadSax

enjoys 3 martini lunches
First let me say that Carlisle of course ruled and http://www.markviii.org/~badsax/smileys/MrT.gif ‘s who choose not to come. Unfortunately, the weather did not rule. Saturday was rainy and Sunday was like a hurricane up on the hill where they stuck us this year.

To everyone who enjoyed a cold beverage of some type, you are all more then welcome in fact, thank you for drinking them! http://www.markviii.org/~badsax/smileys/beer.gif Between John and myself, we had exactly 100 bottles of various beer, a few assorted liquors, two types of juice, water, coke, diet coke, sprite, dr. pepper, ice tea, ginger ale and let us not forget the 3 bottles of good champagne and 7 bottles of crappy champagne. Not to mention the dozen glass champagne flutes I brought (although we had one glass fatality on the trip down) and the big plastic Dixie cups (that we didn’t wind up needing).

After the trip back to Mass, the official count was 20 bottles of beer, half of the 64 sodas and little waters, no champagne! All of the remaining 11 glasses and all but one of the big Dixie cups.

Thanks to everyone who didn’t throw leftover food at me while I was playing my horn. I promise (if you would like), I’ll play again next year, and I swear… I’ll have fully functional equipment this time. Let’s plan a better game for next year, we need something smaller then the little yellow smiley face ball to try and shoot into my horn.http://www.markviii.org/~badsax/smileys/bouncingball.gif I also think I should have something I can shoot back at whoever is throwing the ball at me. Maybe equip my flute with a rocket or something... I’m sure Sharon’s son John can build me something for next year. Perhaps Liza can figure out some sort of point system...

To the stripper who insulted Steve because he didn’t like your dance...http://www.markviii.org/~badsax/smileys/boobies.gif I’m very, very sorry I didn’t pay $15 to see you flip out on him. I’m sure it was much more entertaining then ‘your dance’.

To Chris Kizer, you (and I) are the reason people should never buy used cars that were owned by a rental company. You managed to use up the best years of the poor Taurus’s life in one long weekend. Congrats! http://www.markviii.org/~badsax/smileys/burnout.gif Oh, and your stickers ruled.

To Bill Hamilton, thank you for sponsoring the hard luck award.http://www.markviii.org/~badsax/smileys/yes2.gif It was returned to its rightful owner (myself) after I dropped “the reason I got it”, back off in CT.http://www.markviii.org/~badsax/smileys/monkes.gif

To my MK8 peeps from NE. Thank you for tolerating Amber’s ‘crazy time’ http://www.markviii.org/~badsax/smileys/coo-coo.gif on the way to the hotel on I-81. For those of you who don’t know. I hadn’t slept in almost two days prior to Carlisle, http://www.markviii.org/~badsax/smileys/coffee.gif so Amber drove down. Well, after picking John up in CT, and the two of them fighting for every minute that I can remember being awake.http://www.markviii.org/~badsax/smileys/scream.gif She freaked out and for around 40 minutes, refused to go slower then 90 mph... At one point we passes a group of modded Mustangs who were obviously going to the same place and they filed in behind our little Lincoln processional only to give up trying to follow us after maybe a mile. I guess we were just going a little too fast for their thin Mustang blood...http://www.markviii.org/~badsax/smileys/chicken.gif Thank you also for letting me parcel out my stuff between your cars. All the booze and musical things took up a lot of space.

To the cleaning staff at the hotel...http://www.markviii.org/~badsax/smileys/toiletclaw.gif just THANKS! http://www.markviii.org/~badsax/smileys/lol.gif

To John, (Sharon’s son) thanks for the little Sax statue...http://www.markviii.org/~badsax/smileys/yes2.gif it’s sitting right next to my hard luck trophy on my coffee table.

To everyone else, who should be mentioned! It was great to meet some new people and even better to see some of you again.http://www.markviii.org/~badsax/smileys/wave2.gif Thank you all for a great time, I totally think it’s the people not the cars that make this event special.http://www.markviii.org/~badsax/smileys/worship3.gif The cars are just an excuse for us to all get together! http://www.markviii.org/~badsax/smileys/cheers.gif http://www.markviii.org/~badsax/smileys/bouncing1.gif

My pictures will follow soon! (not like every other time I say that, and it’s a month later… LoL II)

RE: Carlisle, a retrospective...

Joe, don't forget the two bottles of Australian wine I brought...=0

At least Petey didn't whack you in the side of the head with the little yellow smiley ball and then claim he was aimin for Strapp...but it's all good..he said he'd buy me a Vette to make it up to me..;)

Our sincere apologizies to the Harrisburg stripper that had to put up with Steve...good God I would have paid way more than $15. to have seen that...=D

Amber and I STILL did NOT fight...you were delusional from lack of sleep...;)

I loved how the 5.0 guys conceded their spot on the highway...they gave us such whimsical smiles...but a nice show of respect...:)

To the hotel cleaning staff...in the immortal words of Amber, "Joe is just disgusting sometimes."

Joe, by the way, your Sax and flute work really did rock. Thanks again for picking my tired ass up and dragging my tired ass back. I had a blast. Still wanna be roomies?...;)

RE: Carlisle, a retrospective...

I had to save that dollar to tip Joe for when he played his sax, he was much more entertaining then that enoying striper, the look on her face was priceless when I told her I did not like her dance }>

RE: Carlisle, a retrospective...

Now that life is back to normal or at least as normal as it can be after Carlisle 2003 what say we think about the New England Summer meet for somewhere in Connecticut? Leo may be able to persuade some of the NY Metro chapter brethren into attending for a duel meet. John do you know of any good spots that would be accommodating to a bunch of Mark VIII enthusiasts.

RE: Carlisle, a retrospective...

Oh yeah we had some fun. I found the two Mustang guys we out ran Friday on the show field and they definately remembered the 3 Marks they had given chase to but couldn't keep up with.

Joe, tell Amber I had a blast keeping up, it was one of the funnest things we did, racing down the highway just a tick under 100mph with just a couple of car lengths between us. It was one of the first times my buddy had a chance to appreciate how effortlessly the car flew. he mentioned that his mustang wouldn't even go that fast. Had I dared loosen my white-knuckle grip on the wheel or take my eyes off the road for a split second during that half hour to look around at the hills and cliffs we were driving along I'm sure I would have loved the scenery.

and again great job playing the saxaphones and flute, but of course next year you'll have to top your performance like maybe play all 3 simultaneously. and sing. and dance.

And John you can take comfort in the fact it was funny to everyone else when you got hit with a smiley face remarkably similar to this one --> :)

RE: Carlisle, a retrospective...

Frank, there is a local Dairy Queen here in town that would be great to meet at- they have some of the old car cruises there. Then we could roll down to Clear Lake where I grew up and line all the Marks nicely in a row- or park some in my Uncle's driveway across the street. We can set up a grill...have a nice cookout...and even take the canoe for a spin...=D

Although there do seem to be plenty of guys up your way, so maybe we can have something up your way too. I definately don't mind driving this summer. However, you're probably right, if there is something closer to me I think more of the New York crew might roll in.
