Carlisle - Why aren't you going?

I don't know the number of pre-registered cars we have for Carlisle All-Ford Nationals, but I was wondering, if you haven't pre-registered, or aren't decided, why?

Is there something which would make you want to go? Is there something holding you back from going?

I know I was nervous for my first Carlisle, and didn't make my decision til last minute, because I just didn't know what to expect. But I am so glad that I went that year, everyone made me feel right at home and comfortable (I'd only had the car for 5 months).

I am already registered for Ford Truck event in August there.....can't afford both. Maybe next year All Ford.

I really wanted to go.. have for a couple years.. But it's the same weekend as "Pinks All Out" here at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk,Oh.
I've got a couple friends ..and some other guys from the local clubs racing there.

Has the date for the Port Clinton get together been decided yet?

distance is holding me back. if i still lived in massachusetts i could get to carlisle in about 6 hours. being way down south now, its about 2400 miles round trip for me, i'd be alone, and with gas prices i wouldnt have any money to eat there or sleep. ive wanted to go for years, but its one of things i'll probably never get to do :(

Yes. My in-laws live in se Ohio, and if i went to Carlisle, I couldn't avoid another visit with them. I'm moving to the Black Hills this spring, I have another grandchild due in late May and a third due in late June. My job has expanded and it'll take most of my attention to get my arms around that to my satisfaction. Take your pick, lol! Maybe next year.

Hmmm, all good reasons. But I still want you all to go. :)

Dean, as for Port Clinton, I won't be able to make it if it's early then this year, cause that would be too much for me. But I'd still like to do it.

If the increases in gas prices are holding you back, actually sit down and figure what the extra cost would be for the trip for say $3.25 a gallon to $3.75 a gallon for premium. It may work out to be $30, I know that may not be in some people’s budget, but sit down and work out the numbers.

I still need to get a room. I will try to use some of my hotel points, so that means staying around the Harrisburg area. If not I will look to use a AAA discount. I will do a search tonight.
The big cost this year more then fuel could be food. I paid over $7 last week at the company cafeteria for two slices of pizza with pepperoni and a bottle of water. Good thing I work from home most of the time or i would have to brown bag it. As a single guy no kids I never browned bagged it before.

Lets see new wife, and new daughter Isabella Grace due in August. Wife is also on bed rest so really can't make it this year. Crossing fingers for next year!

well I appreciate everyones congrats. The thing is that we would have several hundred tied up in a one weekend event, and may have a problem finding someone to watch our 6 year old autistic son. Not to mention that my wife has to have heperin shots 2 times a day due to complications with the pregnancy. It just seems that it would be much easier to do next year. And she is on BED Rest which means no walking around Carlisle all day or exposure to the hot sun for several hours.

Sure hope that heperin doesn't come from China!! It sure has gotten some real bad press in the past few weeks!! My b-day is Aug 5th....
