CD Player Problem

System: Factory JBL in a 96 Mark VIII

Symptoms: CD player works fine for 3-5 minutes when first turned on, then it "pauses" for 5-10 seconds every 30 seconds or so. Each time play is resumed it picks up where it ended, so no skips; it just pauses.

Any ideas on possible causes, fixes? I know the most obvious fix--get a new player.

I'll take a random shot that there's an overheating problem, but I honestly don't know. Just buy a new aftermarket one ;-)
