I had a very interesting and entertaining weekend as 1 of the many volunteer workers at the Molson Indy working access control as in managing people access to sensitive areas around the course for the weekend. Of course this gives me access to all the best spots around the track for race viewing myself so it’s a pretty good deal IMO to be between the trackside fences and crowd fences for the weekend in spite of the sore and tired feet today.
My area of patrol among others gave me the access to be 1 of about 30 people standing under the shade trees track outside at turn 1 when the green flag fell to start Sundays race. I hung around at turn 1 for about the first 10 laps or so then took a slow walk trackside back to turn 8 where the track makes a right turn away from running parallel to the Gardner where I hung out under another shade tree for another few laps then back to turn 10 at pit entrance for about the final 20 laps.
Ya gotta love first rate motorsports. The smells of race fuels and molten rubber, the sounds of screaming fans and race engines, the sights of race cars being pushed to their limits and beyond and form fitting spandex filled with the finest of forms.
