CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ????

LM 97 MK 8

My battery went dead on my '97 Mark. I put a new battery in and while I was driving the check engine light began to flash. Now when I start the car, the check engine light stays on (not flashing)constantly.

Any ideas? Did I forget to do something when I connected the NEW battery?

How can I get rid of that check engine message?

Thanks
Larry

RE: CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ????

There's no real harm in driving the car as is. As Steve suggested, take the car somewhere (Like AutoZone - they do an OBD check for free in some places) and have them check the codes.

The numbers the computer supplies will tell you what happened - and might lead to a quick fix.
