chrome trim with adhesive backing

AAnyone know where I can get new chrome trim with adhesive backing that goes in the side and bumper molding on the first gen mark viii

I just had the opposite done, black strip over the wrecked chrome.

The visual impact was much more than I anticipated. Not sure I like it yet.

I might have to get some chrome strip and undo it

I applied trim that was the same color as the car - black. Gives a somewhat sportier look.

When I had the front bumper painted, I was able to get new trim from the dealer.

my car is purl white, i need to get some parts pantes and will probly have the car panted so it looks fresh. i was thinking of geting the trim panted to match but i do like the look of the chrome on the car.

I put their chrome strips on both of my cars. It sure makes a difference in the appearance of the car.

They had the original bumper strips, but the door strips I used were their part number HR018C. Give them a call, they're good, helpful people.

I called them the other day and they said that they discontinued the trim that was made for the Mark 8. There wasn't enough demand and they would have to make enough for six years to make it worth while so they discontinued it.

I too was looking at HR018C, maybe HR069C except this one has a point instead of smooth. HR018C would be the closest.

What about the black portion on the edges, did you trim it off or what? Do you have a close-up of it so I can see how it turned out? This could save me $6 for a 6 inch sample.

I didn't have to trim anything off.

If they don't make the bumper peices anymore, I'd just add a narrow strip of double sided tape to the back of the flat side trim peices to make it angled like the bumper strips.

Take a look at an old peice from your bumper. You'll see that the only difference is the angle that the strip is attached at.

What about those chrome strip kits at the parts store. Is there any way those would stay on? What if you used some good JB weld?

The chrome should come out. Its nothing more than chrome trim strap with 3M tape holding it in to place. The problem I'm having is I can fined 1/4 and 3/4 inch trim but the mark chrome is 1/2 inch wide. If any one comes across 1/2 inch wide chrome trim let me know.

How much did the chrome trim cost on the bumper from the dealer? I wanted to replace all the exterior trim on mine as well.:big-grin:

I haven’t checked but as I'm understanding it the dealer no longer caries it and aftermarket is the only way to go. This is the place I found on the net that I will probably order it from.
