CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER

All of a sudden, the topics in each forum are no longer listed by latest reply, but just helter skelter in an order I can't fathom.

Can/will someone tell me how to change the listin order back to putting the threads with most recent replies at the top of the page?

When you click the headings, it should re-sort by that heading. I don't click into any of the forums any more, there are just way too many of them. Since we moved to this board, i've been using "read new". I suggest trying that, it makes it easy to see everything that has been updated.

The are in order by tree branches... if there is a reply to a msg then the reply appears right under it, not at the end. So if everybody replies to the latest msg, there would be no difference in the order you see them no matter if it is chrono or hierarchical. But sometiems people reply to msgs in the middle of the tree and so under hierarchical sorting you see those ahead of earlier msgs from lower in the tree...

I appreciate the replies, but I think all of you have missed the point I was attempting {not too clearly} to make.

After puzzling it out, I have found that threads within a topic, such as "drivetrain", are being sorted by alphabetical order of author of thread.s username.

What I want to know, is how to change back to sorting by listing threads in order of most recent reply. I don't really want to only pull up those replies that have been posted since my last visit, as I may run across something that I don,t have the time or info I need to reply right then, but may come back later to re[ply or just as reference.

Go to the blue bar at the top of any index page where you find topic–author-date which as you move your pointer across will appear as links. Click on “last update date” and that should solve your problem

Thanks, Johnaec & Splat' your advice was exactly what I needed. Did that and now things are sorted by latest update first and that's the best way for me.

Maybe before I get too old to punch the keys. I'll finally learn how to operate this dagnabbed newfangled thingamabob!
