cigarette lighter fuse?

Ok I dont know when this happened but I recall it working earlier today. My cigarette lighter is out & I imagine it is the fuse, unless there is some 'quirky Lincoln-only' issue that I haven't encountered yet. Any ideas where it is? I looked in the fuse box and they all look fine. Thanks.

It (fuse panel) should be below the dash on the drivers side on the outer panel in the foot well. Adleast that's where they are in 96. It takes a 20 Amp fuse according to shop manual.

Which outlet is it? On my 96 Mark only the outlet below the A/C controls works but the back one on the console doesn't. I haven't pull the non-working one to see if the wiring is still in tact.

I haven't tried to pull either outlet but on most cars they aren't very hard to get to the wiring behind it if the fuse is ok.

Mike!! Listen... as I said above, unless you either ohm out the fuse or replace it with a like fuse, you sometime can not tell one is blown visually!

Look for fuse #14, 30A, in the under-dash box. It runs nothing but the lighter and the powerpoint.

If it's blown, you won't have ashtray illumination either. If you do, check for power at the centre point of the socket, and be sure the tube of the socket is grounded.

...might be the socket itself, the connector at the back, or the element.

bud!! listen I am not as car term savvy as you so therefore I thought you were referring to the look of the fuse and the 20 amp description in post #2, not to me and whether it looked blown or not. So, loosen your panties and relax. Thanks for the info though. :D

@ Frankie, I do have ashtray illumination thats why I thought it was weird, I recall from another car they were on the same fuse. I'll check the rest though thanks

Mike!! I wear boxers, and they ain't tight, but I do get a kick outta ribbing people..LOL..and I get o kick outta getting ribbed back!!

Now, did you know that you can look at/get a copy of your maintenance manual which will have a view of the electrical schematic for your car at:
http://www.bedlib.org/ebsco.html

You have to use a user name of: "library" and the same name for password. Click on the box that says AARC That may help you figure this out.

no, see now thats helpful and thanks for the ribbing, I dont mind it as long as you can take it back, :D

ok I checked my fuses with a tester and two do not work, I replaced them and they still don't work. They are 2 10 amp fuses, one on the top right and one on the bottom right. anybody have any idea where to go from here?

Have you checked your fuses under the hood? Some of the underhood fuses feed fused circuits in the instrument panel fuse box.

Pull the "bad fuses". Put your test light on the pins (one at a time) to see if the test light lights. If none of those fuse pins lights your light, either your trest light is bad or you aren't getting power to those fuses to start with. Go to electrical schematic to see where the power comes from to power that circuit. Just keep testing backwards ( towards the battery or ignition) until you find the open circuit.

I've got a question. My cigarette lighter's illumination light burns so hot that it burned my seat when it touched it. It also melted the housing it goes in. What could cause this?

ok so I got around to going under the hood and in the fuse panel there there are a few mini fuses & the 10 amp one towards the end is not working, the fuse is intact I even tried changing it to no avail. On to my next location I suppose. Oh pins dont work either and test light is good

ok I'm a dumbass, my brother was with me tonight and I asked him and he said I need ti check both leads on the fuses and that one side may work and one may not, so I did and I found the blown fuse. I know you probably told me that somewhere in this thread but I didn't do it, thanks guys! problem solved
