My cooling fan won't shut off...I have tried everything I know (which isn't that much) removed every fuse/relay and it keeps running. Am told I need a Computer. Any and all help appreciated....thanks
My problem is it runs when the car is off and will not shut off.
Did you know it is supposed to run anytime the AC is on? Which by the way means almost every HVAC position except OFF.
I've experimented with this.
The "Floor" and "Vent" functions do not cycle the AC comp.
"Flr/Pnl", "Auto", "Defrost" do cycle the AC comp.
I also have a problem with my fan on my 94, but in my case it does not run at all, it has power to it. I hooked a wire to my positive battery and then to the green power wire on my fan and it ran fine. Would it possibly also be the VCRM?
My fan will not run at all. I put the climate control to floor and turned the temp to 90 degrees and no fan. I also put the climate control to A/C and same thing, no fan. How should I go about trouble shooting this starting with the easiest first?
Green?
The Light Blue wire is the positive feed to the fan from the VCRM. The black wire is ground. The third wire is unused.
Check the 40 amp Cooling Fan fuse in the engine compartment fuse box.
Thanks driller. I'll check the leading edge of the fan pitch to determine the direction. I'm not having any electrical problems so I won't worry about the small spark I saw when I inserted the fuse. I was a bit concerned because the items you mentioned in reference to that particular circuit were not on and I couldn't see why there would be a current draw. I could see if the door was open and the courtesy light was on or if the brake pedal was depressed, etc.Fuse 19(40A) in the Engine Compartment fuse box is Circuit 37 (Y) Fuse Panel Feed. Feeds: Instrument Panel Fuses; 6, 11.
Instrument Panel Fuse 6(15 Amp ATC) - Circuit 931 (O) Courtesy Lamps, Power Mirrors, Dome Switch, Electronic Door Lock Control, Memory Seats
Instrument Panel Fuse 11(15 Amp ATC) - Circuit 10 (LG/R) Stop, Hazard Lamps, Brake Pressure Switch
Look at the fan to tell the direction of the fan motor. The motor turns so air is drawn through the radiator into the engine compartment. When I replaced mine I was told to be certain the direction of the motor was correct... somewhere they changed direction for some reason.
It is a basic DIY project to replace the motor. Once the fan assembly is removed, remove the fan blade from the motor and drill out the rivets holding the motor. Then replace with the new motor using appropriate sized bolts and locking nuts.
