Turnout was back where we like it for this Friday's Street Stock: 18 cars, trucks, and motorcycles answering the call.
Although two of the heavy hitters were conspicuous in their absence: Tiffany Spain was off celebrating a graduation, and Barnyard was just plain AWOL. Has anyone seen him????
First Round:
Wayne Woods takes his 00 Mustang past David Baugh who uncharacteristically cuts a bad light on his Hayabusa.
Rick Cucina benefits from last week's winner Don Brassington's red light start.
Greg Dubiel takes his corvette to Round 2 as he gets past up and comer Nathen Mueck and his 06 Nissan Sentra.
Glen Snedden runs one number off his dial and puts the Harley V-rod of David Dunlap out of the race.
David Roadarmel pushes Joe Cram to a breakout run and the win light shines brightly in his lane.
Scott Koehler and his Silver Bullet intimidates first timer Bridget Hill and she leaves too soon and red lights.
Justin Hill takes advantage of Steven Pratt's reaction time and takes the win.
Eric O'sullivan thought he had the bye run, but Tyler Pratt in his vintage Mustang answers the call in the nick of time. Both drivers were slow off the tree and fast at the stripe, but Eric O'sullivan takes the win in a double breakout!
Round 2:
Rick Cucina fell asleep at the tree against Justin Hill and his Mark VIII but Justin must've had troubles as he ran a second and a half off his dial and Cucina had another win fall in his lap.
Glen Snedden lines up against Scott Koehler. No intimidation factor here, unless it was Scott who was nervous and lit the red bulb for Glen to take the win.
Points leader Tommy Douglas celebrates in the burnout box as he sees his rival go red. Then it's all business as he lines up against the Mustang of Eric O'sullivan. Eric was slow off the tree and Tommy caught him at around 550' and took the easy win.
Another MarkVIII against Mustang in the next pair: David Roadarmel against Wayne Woods. David runs 8 numbers off his dial and Wayne runs 5 off, but David had 7 numbers advantage off the tree and takes the win.
The Semi-finals has a pair of rookies and a pair of wiley old veterans.
Greg Dubiel has the bye run and decides to see what would happen on a flat out screaming run, and scream he does!!
7.29 at 98 mph for the corvette!!
Only 5 left in Round 3
Rick Cucina has been asking someone to "Spank the Geezer" since Tiffany wasn't racing, and Tommy Douglas decided if his girlfriend wasn't there to do it, he'd take matters in his own hands. Tommy went .08 RT to Rick's .3177 and he needed every hundredth off the tree as Rick runs a 7.01 on a 7.00 dial, but it wasn't enough to make up for the disparity at the tree. The Geezer got Spanked!!
Greg Dubiel lined up the corvette against the MarkVIII of David Roadarmel and had an easy time of it as David jumped the gun on the get go, and lit the red light.
Glen Snedden had the easy road to the semi-finals with a bye run.
3 cars in Round 4
Greg Dubiel made another MarkVIII red light, this time it was Glen Snedden leaving early and giving the win to the 'Vette.
Tommy Douglas finds a bit of luck and draws the bye run in to the finals.
The finals are set and this time nothing is wrong, Greg Dubiel answers the call! Tommy Douglas and Greg Dubiel line up side by side. Douglas takes the advantage at the tree and holds on to it braking at the end to protect his dial, and Dubiel had no choice but to run it out and break out.
