Daily Carlisle updates

Haha, looks like a good time, as always.

As those who missed it always say, maybe next year.

Lidar jammers ? WTH ? as in radar jammers ?

LIDAR = Light Detection and Ranging.....as in laser jammers. Yes they do work as long as the officer is further than 200-300 feet away and the laser diods are aimed properly on the car. It alerts you and gives you time to slow down, although I haven't needed it yet. Radar jammers are illegal due to FCC having jurisdiction over radar bandwidth, but they don't control 900 nano meter wavelength spectrum (IR). =)

WHAT A GREAT CARLISLE!! This year was the best in years. We really should do something to thank Rick Markko, Carlsile Events Manager, for being so receptive to moving us down off Mt. Everest. The gentleman in the pictures giving out the awards is Rick.

The location was great and we ran out of room so we took over some space from the 2002-Up T-Birds! I have a feeling that next year we'll be able to get more room and more classes.

So I made it home also, obviously. BUT if we had a hard luck trophy for heading home it would have to be awarded to our newest member Jim Morris and his '72 Mark IV. Some of you may remember he noticed weak brakes suddenly on Sunday morning and loss of brake fluid. The brakes totally failed on the highway and we managed to coast into a rest area just across the NJ border. Turns out the master cylinder was leaking brake fluid and the reason we didn't see the leak at the fairgrounds was because the vacuum system was sucking it into the intake and burning it off. So a 20 mile round trip in Moose to an open auto parts store and luckily the cylinder is a common one.

We managed to change the cylinder in the rest stop but with all that heat we were soaked clean through. One truck driver remarked that the heat was making our skin leak.

My favorite part of the show was Joe's Caddy disguised as a Mark VIII with those pictures and the one guy who remarked the car "even had Caddy wheels and a Caddy interior." The best of all though was the woman voting for his car! I really thought I was seeing things, a couple of pictures surely will be posted. When we told her she shouldn't waste her vote and she was voting for a Cadillac she said sh saw the car driving around and was finally able to vote for it when it was standing still at some point. Just amazing!

I wish I had seen that. I was literally walking around most of the show, I just can't get over how much there was to see. Totally overwhelming and I still felt like I only saw half of the show!

Does anyone have video of my burnout uploaded anywhere? My footage was crap. It was nice to meet you all up there & get drunk all night in front of all of the cops, bums & of course Chris, the local weirdo.

Haha, Matt, Bill Cuddy should have your burnout taped. I heard he was planning on uploading them.

Yes, Saturday night was different. We met many locals, including Chris3 who just at one point showed up and sat down with us. Then Phil from Philly, the apparently homeless guy who likes cake and uses a fork (I am so mortified at myself), and the other guy who I don't remember his name. And our charming bartender.

So, I did end up renting the scooter on a day that was so unbearably hot, I hardly even use it. In fact, at one point I was talking to Sleeper near the bathrooms. He was sitting on the scooter and I was standing and Hubby came by and asked WTF? hee hee. I rode it a little bit, but the bumps really hurt, so a few people kept taking turns to use it and go get me things.

Then, thanks to the name tags and shirt which said Carlisle 2008 from the Drillers, some guy came up to me thinking I was a part of the event.

Of course, there's never enough time at these meets. I always leave feeling like I wish I would have spent more time with more people and seen more cars (which in my case includes the conti that was straight across from us which I apparently was too tired to go see).

I'll be sending Rick a big thank-you email tonight, Leo. Glad you and Jim made it home safely! Traveling together is the best
