Did them brakes

About a week ago, my brakes started sqeaing a lot, and then it kinda went away. But lately, I had really been working hard to stop the car and after a good hard ride, I could smell burnt brakes. So I changed the front pads and rotors this afternoon. WHAT A DIFFERENCE! A new pair of Wagner rotors and some carbon-metalic pads. I bought all the stuff for all 4 corners, but upon further inspection the rear was fine so I didnt touch it. $240 for everything and I get to bring $110 of it back, cause I didnt do the rears. All-Pro CarParts of Epsom (NH) hooked me up big time. Now I can put that $110 into a tranny flush and fill before my road trip!

RE: Did them brakes

I don't know what the last owner of my car put on for shoes but I love them. I've had the car nearly 2 years. The pads still look new, the rims (lacy spokes, the hardest to clean) never get dirty....I just love them. They stop on a dime too. But they fade fast at high speeds. I can fault the fluid for that though. Probably need to switch to DOT 5. I might sound real anal, but I've always paid meticulous attention to details. I, once a year, remove all four wheels and scrub the crud out of all four corners. It nearly shines like new when I'm done. I also clean the rims back to new on the inside where the brake dust typically accumulates. Mine are usually slightly dustedand that's all. My wife has an '02 Saturn L300 that stops on a dime, but has the dirtiest brake pads I've ever seen. I have to clean the wheel wells and inner wheels every 2 or 3 months in order to maintain the finish on these wheels. It's crazy.
