I've just come to learn of a few of the guys in the other sections here that are thinking about inserting a different shock into the front strut: a much firmer shock then what you can get OEM or rebuilt.
Why? To match, say, a set of Bilstiens on the rear.
I'm willing to do some measurements and machine time to see if this possible, ordering different shocks for the size needed.
What I do need is a set of old, very old, busted or high milege struts. Heck, just one will work as I assume they are the same on both sides. So yanking only one from a totalled car is just fine.
Basically, if you are looking to off load those set of struts you have sitting out back that you replaced a few years ago and the wife is yelling for you to throw away, for a long time, this is the time.

Oh, Generation 1 only please. Because if I get it to work, it will be going on my 95.
Then again, perhaps the Gen2 struts are a different size in diameter, giving more chances I can find a shock to fit inside a different one. Ok, I want one of each generation now.
