Door Ajar message

Whenever I wash my car it seems the Door Ajar message is displayed. The WD-40 trick used to work but it seems my car finally figured it out and doesn't like it anymore. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I could do to possibly fix it, and/or how to get it fixed?

Thanks in advance!

RE: Door Ajar message

Heres a little more info if it might help. I am almost 100% it has to be the passengers door sensor. It seems if I wait a day and then open the passengers door the door ajar warning will go off. Don't know why, but it seems like I shouldn't open the passengers door untill a day has past after washing the car.

RE: Door Ajar message

Theres a microswitch in there...See if you cant take the door apart and get a new one. They have to be cheap. Its probably just stuck for good.

RE: Door Ajar message

Thanks for the reply Eli. Is the microswitch on the little sensor that can be pushed in on the frame of the car or is it in the door itself?

Hopefully this is something easy I can do myself (or friends) and not end up paying an arm and leg to have done.

RE: Door Ajar message

It's in the same spot you would spray the WD40. I heard it's a real PITA to get to though. Never had to do it myself; I've never even had the door apart. Ask one of the audiophiles to tell you how to do that. Good luck, maybe take some pics for the rest of us?
