The door on my wife's '98 stays open after the lock button is pushed on the remote OR when you press the button inside to lock the doors. I looked at it and it seems to want to go down but doesn't; you have to push the lock thingy down so it locks. How do you fix this?. Thanks for any help.

sounds like you need to replace the door lock actuator. if you can only manually lock the door, but the actuator isnt working with the remote or the door buttons, most likely thats whats wrong.
It moves when you press the remote but doesn't go down, you gotta do it manually. Do you have one at the shop you want sell?. Thanks.

not at the shop, but i have some in the garage at home!!
you havent gone inside the door for anything recently have you? that actuator is a royal PITA to change. you have to unbolt the latch assembly in the door's jam, and the actuator is riveted down low on the end of the door jam under the latch assembly, then you have to snap your arms inside the door to get everything out so you can change the actuator. i do have some, but i would take the door panel off first and look inside with a flash light and see if there is anything obvious first.

I agree, there could be just a problem with the linkage.
