Exhaust setup

Alright, I’ve decided to scrap the new 52” HD plasma TV & get an exhaust put in my ’97. Here’s what I’m thinking, & please give feedback; LMS’ XpansionX II mufflers, ART’s exhaust pipes, and a set of headers (haven’t decided on those yet). Question is should I get new cats also? What’s a good set of headers? And what else should I be looking to install w/ this setup? I don’t want the car to sound like it’s on a dirt track but my neighbor just got a Harley Lighting pickup and is always bragging about the sound and wants to know when I want to race. Any tips, tricks and /or advice welcome.

Thanks

RE: Exhaust setup

Yes, you should get 2-new high-flow cats.......assuming you are going to run with cats.

You'll need to modify (extend the wires) the O2 sensors, and it would probably be a good time to get new ones at this point.

You only really have 2 choices for Headers; Dan's (ART'S) Long-Tubes, or Kooks mid-legnths. Both are priced similar and give similar performance.

You'll also need a chip or a dyno tune after getting this done.

And you need a ton of money for installation, unless you are going to do this yourself.

I 'think' some modifications to your steering needs to be done with Dan's headers.

Good luck and keep us up to date.

If Dan has his headers available, I'd go with those. He can sell you all the other parts as well, high-flow cats, modded O2's etc.

RE: Exhaust setup

I remember when I had a '85 ford LTD when I removed the cats it never ran right after, do the pros out way the cons.
I wish I could do it myself but I don't think a couple of C-MENT blocks is gonna get it done!
Thanks
