Facebook

I got mine a little over a year ago i think. I got rid of my myspace like 2 years ago...Never went on it..Did save pics n stuff before i did though.

I'd also like to add that i cant stand the poeple with like 500 friends..Or over 150 for that matter. I have a little over a hundred and could prob get rid of half of them w/o giving a sh it..

but you don't want the drama if you un-friend them, people take such offense

So true Steve. Can't tell you how many times my wife would get flack for moving the top 10 friends around.

Well I am really seeing that I should have not started this thread,I will admit i am one of those that has over 200 friends on FB but I do hear from all of them,as for talking to some in person, well,I have a sister that lives in London a brother Stationed in Iraq and another in Afganastan I think thats how its spellt lol,so for me its a great way to stay in touch for free, although in my humble opinion its really not much different then staying in touch on here, but there again its just my opinion,so if I offended anyone with this thread I do apologize

It is fine for my wife to keep in touch with her family who is all over the world and share photos of our baby. Some people just over do it and those request for the games, surveys, etc are just spam IMHO :D

Security and privacy are the two big issues in my book. Next would be excess use. Some people go through withdrawals if they don't get on FB every day.

We got a security email at work about geotagging in photos a month or so ago. It goes on to explain how you take a picture with you phone and the GPS coordinates where you were when you took said picture get attached. Now you upload to Flicker or PhotoBucket and your geotag is now on the Internet. Attach that to you FB and now anyone that searches you can click on the picture and see were you were when you took it.

Sooo...no big deal when you're at Disneyland, but when they go through your folder an find pictures of your huge new tv in your living room, they check your GPS geotag and guess what?? They know right where to get a brand new TV!

Well, that, and if they *know* you and your family are at Disneyland, they know your house is likely empty.

/wears his tin-foil hat with pride

or course 10 years from now, those geotags are going to be very valuable. "where the heck was that taken?"

Yes, very true! *J's at work right now and his house is unlocked." Is what the criminals read, lol.

Michael, don't feel bad about posting this, we have a lot of LOD members on FB, me included. I hate FB, joined many many years ago to keep in touch with a few people. Have all fake info in it, yet people still manage to find me, haha.

My issues with it are the privacy risks I take, and don't want to expose my friends to, but I try to be careful, and set up other accounts specifically for gaming on there so as to hopefully not bug my real friends.

Well Trix I have learned that when I get a request for a game or app,I just say no,that way I don't worry about the security part of it.I have found that FB is a great way to stay in touch with a large number of people, and these days now that I am back into acting I am able to stay in touch with directors and others in the industry with out having to pick up the phone and call or text them when they may be working.I really think its all in how you use the site,if your just there for fooling around I guess you can do that, but if you take it seriously its not much different then being on LOD
