To go catless, it's best to do headers since the drivers' side cat is integral with the factory exhaust manifold.

Better explanation...
"Since V8’s fire unevenly, exhaust exits in pulses rather than a steady flow. While one pipe is filled with pressure the other pipe is relatively pressureless but the connecting of the two pipes in a siamese pattern allows pressure to be released to the other side. This action allows the exhaust to pass through the pipe quicker and this better ‘breathing’ increases horsepower."

Some users rave the MagnaFlow 2-in/2-out muffler/resonator in place of the typical X-pipe and some with no rear mufflers.

You will get a CEL because of the removal. YOu can get a chip burned to "remove " the cats from your computer.

and no is not legal to run catless in your state its a federal standard not astate standard. you just dont get tested. its still illegal. you can b ticketed for it if a cop looks.

It's illegal on a federal level. You just won't get caught if there's no testing. But a cop COULD still look and see if it's under there. It would have to be a real prick cop though, and he'd have to know your car. How many cops out there are going to suspect a mark 8 of running without cats?
I suggest headers. When i had my mark 8, i had long tubes and a full exhaust on it. I don't talk too much about the cat situation. I'm not too big on admitting to things that I "might" have done that "might" not be entirely legal, online.

mainly what im gettin at is the power loss on a new set of high flow cats is almost non existant these days and you can score them on ebay for 30 bucks on up theres no excuse for not running cats. unless you have a turbo motor. and i even have a cat on my typhoon but its there because i have a built engine and huge turbo the cat helps eliminate boost creep
