A lot of you probably know how to do this, but I started trying to figure out a way to avoid going to the Ford dealer for part F5VF-13B765A. I think the part runs about $5 apiece there. I used Radio Shack Micro Bulbs instead to replace just the bulb in the socket, and a 2 pack of bulbs is $1.69. This is just an FYI, but here is how I did it.
Radio Shack #7219 is the correct bulb for this. The ones on the left in the pic. The bulb with the cut leads in the left bag is the stock bulb that came out of the socket.
The bulb is a little small to fit in the base of the plastic socket, so I used two layers of shrink wrap tubing on the base to build it up a bit.
Here is a pic of the inside of the unit, for those who wonder what it looks like. I ended up replacing two bulbs in there, and now it looks like new.
And here is a comparison pic of the 1993 vs. 1996 unit.
Hope this helps someone.
Craig
