getting painted

I painted mine myself and am pretty happy with the results, but it took a solid week of work and I spent about 700 bucks on paint and materials. I think if someone was going to do a good job and was charging 2K AND that included some body work, it's a good price.

I've seen spray welding in industrial applications. Never thought of it for bodywork.

LOL I hate it when that happens.

From the sample piece I handled, and the work in progress I saw, I have high expectations for it.

And the guy gave me a referral to a guy who refurbishes rims so I should be looking pretty sweet by Spring :big-grin:

I got the car back today!

The repair is fabulous! All new smooth black metal where before was only rust, and shame.

he also touched up multiple 7yr old bicycle rider marks, and a billion rock chips, etc etc. and buffed the bejeesus our of the whole thing.

They lay down a layer of the spray weld (sprayweld, spray-weld), then cover that with a thin layer of putty, then finish that. It seemed very cost-effective to get the rust fixed this way. Anywhere that I can insepct directly the rust is GONE, it is all new metal.

cell phone takes lousy pics but I will get some up.

This one shows the top of the left rear well. This was completely eaten up by rust. Some mud on the left side looks like a scratch. Howevr, yo ucan see the contour line is perfect all the way around, completely re-built by the spray welding.

I think you need a better camera? :p

I't hard to tell from the small pic, but it looks good. :wave022:

That looks Great!

I didn't know that Mark VIII's rusted above the wheel.

Mine rusted in the rocker area.

I had plenty of rocker rust too. I am almost too ashamed to tell you how the wheel well rust happened.
