Good and bad news

Alright, just checking in again with you guys. On a positive note, I got my multi-engine commercial pilots licence on thursday. And Then I got to go to The Players Championship (golf game) at Sawgrass down here in Jacksonville on Friday.

Now the bad part... On the way home from the golf game, two of my friends and I were in the '97 mark, stopped at a stop light and I got rear-ended by this chick in a saturn. My car doesn't look to terrible, (especially compared to her car) but we got hit pretty hard. I'll put up some pics if I can get them off of my camera. Got hit in the rear passengers side. The bumper was totally caved in and popped back to its normal shape and has some good chunks taken out of it, but all of the sheet metal is fine. The exhaust got bent up pretty good and the tip on that side is demolished, I bent it bak a little to make it look not so bad. From looking closer at it later that night, I noticed that there was a large black crack-like spot in the reflector of the big rear neon tail light in the middle and the passenger-side brake lamp assy. is scratched and cracked.

I got all of the insurance info and we had the cops come and write up an accident report, but I got a call from the girl later on that day and she asked me if it would be possible to take care of it without getting the insurance companies involved; I said I would look into it.

So I checked out to see how much parts would run from FPN.
This is what I came up with:
-Right Muffler and pipe ($325)
-Rear bumper cover ($345)
-Rear bumper impact bar ($220)
-Rear Bumper Isolator ($80)
-Rear bumper shield, right ($15)
-Rear reflector panel ($600)
-Rear right taillight assy. ($165)
for a grand total of about $1800 for parts.

I'm going to go have it assesed for real at the dealer tomorrow, but in the mean-time I want to make sure that they get everything as well. Either way, if everyone can take a look at this list and see if there is anything else that I need to look at, watch for, or inspect, please let me know. Also, your oppinions on labor, paint etc.. I want my baby back the way she was!!!

Thanks!

RE: Good and bad news

Kev,

While you're at it, might as well get a new exhaust from the cat back. Dan makes a nice one, and it won't be any more than a stocker.. Also, if possible, have the dealer put it up on a checking fixture. Where I live, we have a few collision shops that actually measure the car digitally to the OEM specs. Sometimes a bend in the frame is only noticeable this way...Cheers.

RE: Good and bad news

Good idea with having the frame checked, im gonna look into that.

I was definitely not planning on replacing the stock exhaust. Overall, this is a good excuse to begin the transition to LSC and to do the exhausr the right way!!
