Got myself a beater

Picking it up tomorrow... and towing it home.

Its a 1991 Eagle Talon. New engine, newly rebuilt tranny. Transmission hasn't made it onto the car yet. So its getting towed home to the garage where the tranny will be put on. I'll be DDing my Talon by Friday.

That means the Mark will get to snuggle up at night with the Corvette in the garage.

Guess I need to change my sig now too.

I'll post pics of it tomorrow night. You guys can't wait to see it. Believe me, its AWESOME! :) :(

Sweet. I always liked those cars. I used to get smoked off the line in the 1/4 mile by an AWD Eagle talon Turbo running spray back in the day. It was with my 455 TA. But id catch up halfway through to the end, once i got traction. Its the only ricer besides the Acrura NSX I'd own. Post pics when available.

Sharon its ok. I allready took the NOS stickers off of it. It came with a new front bumper. The one on it right now is cracked and broken. Came with extra paint also. yep yep. And they also gave me 2 Talon wheels. So if anyone is looking to give away 2 more talon wheels I'm accepting donations.

Maaco is on my mind right now. I'd like to put it back to the origonal black and white. But we'll see. Its a beater. I'm going to start with driving it the way it is.

WOW now that is one butt ugly car ,but I'll bet it gets good gas mileage .I would say that one beats all the ugly cars I've had in the past and I've had some dam ugly cars :)

parts of the car are cleaning up real well. From the front seats forward it looks pretty good.. on the interior. The back seats themselves look great. However the plastic trim pieces are all faded back there. Might be time to rattle can them. Or do a decent job depending on how much time I want to spend on it. The trunk or hatch area looks horrible.

Not real sure what to do with the wheels. I guess I'll drive it the way it is right now but keep my eye open for two more talon wheels on ebay. The engine itself looks fairly good. The exhaust manifold does have a crack in it but i don't think its anything to worry about. The transmission looks pretty well also. We'll see how it goes later this evening after it gets put in.

If everything goes well its a good buy considering it cost me all of $500. Its also for sale by the way. Make me an offer and I may consider it.

So far I've put $3.19 into it. I had to buy some more of those little clip thingies to keep a plastic trim piece up. :)

I thought the crime of mopery consisted of exposing yourself to a blind person.

Eugene Volokh points out the WordSmith word of the day: mopery. He's a law professor, and he'd never heard of this legal term. I guess he never saw Revenge of the Nerds. I don't even remember the context, and I'm not even sure of the sketchy details that follow, but I think someone (Booger?) had been arrested, and he described the reason as mopery. In response to the quizzical look that followed, he explained it as "exposing yourself to a blind person". I don't know if that was supposed to be the definition of the term or the description of the particular action that led to the mopery charge. If it was the former it was inaccurate, but if it was the latter it was probably correct. That may well be mopery. It's about as trivial a crime as there can be. According to Volokh, the OED definition is: "The action of committing a minor or petty offence, such as loitering, etc.; contravention of a trivial or hypothetical law, esp. when used as an excuse to harass or arrest a person against whom no more serious crime can be charged."
