Went to Johnny Franklins, they hooked me up with 2.5 inch piping from the front cats back to a Magnaflow high flow 2 in 2 out 3rd cat. Kept the stock dual LSC piping from the Magnaflow high flow cat back out to no mufflers/stock tips. Didn't have my camera with me but they do excellent work. The car sounds the same until the upper rpm's where it's a little bit meaner sounding. I went WOT and the car feels a lot better pulling all the way to 7000rpm like never before.

Wait so the car isn't any louder with just the magnaflow over stock? If I remember correctly you had some stock mufflers before?! Also does it drone on the freeway?

First I had Dynomax Bullets, than I cut them off with 2.5 straight pipe (no muffs), and now I did a high flow Magnaflow 3rd cat with 2.5 piping from the front cats back to the Magnaflow, stock LSC dual catback from there. It's a little bit louder than the old no muffler stock piping and 3rd cat setup. The no mufflers made the most noise difference by far.

Here is a pic of stone's exhaust. Mine is the same exact setup except my 2.5 pipes extend all the way to the front cats. The shop had to weld on the exhaust bungs or whatever they are called for the 02 sensors.

Hmm I see... so you're just running 3 cats with no mufflers??! Odd setup but you gotta do what you gotta do in cali. How does it compare to the bullets?

Let's just say i've never heard of another Mark VIII exhaust setup I liked better than this. Your mileage may vary. I just went around the block and holy crap the car actually got sideways on the 1-2 shift, reminded me of my 95 LSC for a second but obviously not quite as fast...

Lol...you said it :p (interpreted as Gen 1's are faster, hehe) J/K

Congrats on getting the exhaust done....watch out for coppers, you're not legal anymore :) Hehe, you said "bung"! Maybe Beavis and Butthead were talking about exhaust stuff when they said..."I need TP for my bunghole!" Maybe his O2 sensors went bad, lol.

Why is it in Calif. that running w/o mufflers is illegal? Is it the noise or just the fact that there is no muffler??? Duh!!! Isn't a muffler there simply to "muffle" the noise? If the noise...whatever that is, NOT NOISE, why do you have to muffle it?

Does CA law have a dB level that then requires a "muffler"?

Yes, there is a DB level requirement but I doubt my car will fail it. My buddies Mach 1 has stock exhaust with Flowmaster 1 chamber race mufflers and his car sounds just as loud as mine.

Every state has a dB level vehicle code somewhere, but thats not what I was talking about.

Your car falls under the "modified exhaust" vehicle code(as does mine, lol) with a sub-description of "no mufflers". I know from experience.......

I also got a ticket when I had No muffs and was driving down a street with walls on both sides...."unusual noise from mufflers". Haha.

I'm not trippin i've already been pulled over since I god rid of the mufflers and the cop didn't say anything about the exhaust, I ended up getting a speeding ticket though which sucks majorly. 52mph in a 35 zone...

Most states have laws now that prevent any modification of factory emission devices which includes mufflers.

In California mufflers are NOT considered "emission devices".....yet, lol.

Serge...he obviously didn't think/care about your loud exhaust, but if he pulled you over for loud/unusual noise coming from your mufflers you'd get a ticket.

Just because you didn't get a ticket, doesn't make it LEGAL, and that train of thinking is probably why you have a speeding ticket now. :p "I'm speeding but if he doesn't see me its no illegal" *enter red/blue flashing lights* lol! If it was a fix it ticket I could help you out....he didn't write you for your tint?
