This a very interesting statement, Scott. I could go on for pages on it - but I will not....briefly....
Back in the Seventies when folks came in to pick up their new car, the majority were all wearing big smiles & were excited & "up" and happy as all heck. Thrilled comes to mind.

~ There was a supurb article a couple years ago in Car Collector Magazine by Tom Murray (whom I envy - an Automotive Journalist who makes the printed page jump 'n dance). In that article he relates how getting a new car in the past was like a monumental feat. Today he illustrates how it's like bringing home a new 4-slice toaster!

I can't say that I can name any material "thing" that gives me equal pleasure to getting a new car, and yes (in Demos) I've had more cars than most in 2 lifetimes. But while I drove them, wash them and all, they still were NOT legally mine! I probably drove them safer than I will greenKIN as I didn't fret & worry about them, as I do when MY $$$ crosses the table. They are all WAAAY to darn expensive today! and the Sad Part is that NOBODIES making any more money on them. COSTS have gone nuts!
